Why the glamorous WAG, warned about relocating to a ‘boring’ Australian city to be with her football star boyfriend, may never return – despite insisting their relationship is not over.

An influencer podcast has weighed in on a glamorous footy WAG’s decision to flee Australia because she couldn’t bear living in ‘boring’ Adelaide with her new boyfriend.

Aussie influencer and model Chelsea Becirevic, 23, announced in November last year that she was ‘excited for a change’ when she followed her man Ivan Soldo to the City of Churches when he was traded from Richmond to Port Adelaide.

However, she proved the novelty of living in ‘Radelaide’ had worn off earlier this month when she took to Instagram to announce she is moving to Dubai to start a new life working for an airline.

Amy, Kate and Sophie Taeuber discussed the saga on their Outspoken podcast this week, debating whether Chelsea made the right decision to embark a long-distance relationship with Ivan.

‘They’re very young. She’s only 23. Potentially, this will cause a split,’ one sister speculated.

Another suggested that Chelsea’s public put-down of Adelaide was a ‘slap in the face’ to the WAGS of Port Adelaide Football Club, because ‘they would have been her designated besties for the last couple of months, and she’s just basically gone, “This is s**t”‘.

However the podcasters did agree that Chelsea made the right decision to follow her dream of becoming an air hostess.

‘I’m kind of excited for her, though, that she is now focusing on her career, and she’s making a big move for her,’ one sister said, adding: ‘Why should she stay in Adelaide if it’s not the right decision for her career path?’

‘Oh, definitely. I do think it’s very refreshing that she is focusing on her own career,’ another agreed.

In her post earlier this month, Chelsea told her followers that she had ‘always wanted to work for Emirates, live in Dubai and travel the world. So that’s exactly what I’m gonna do’.

When asked by a fan if she was taking anyone with her, Becirevic replied, ‘Doing this one solo. Never moved anywhere by myself so will be good to gain some independence.

‘I’ve always wanted to move overseas, so I think it’ll be an exciting new chapter for me.’

While stressing she and Soldo have no issues, she did reveal, ‘He had to move to Adelaide for his career and tbh it’s been a struggle for me.

‘It [living in Adelaide] is just not for me permanently,’ she added, followed by a black heart emoji.

‘Temporarily it’s fine. But long term in aus I think Melbourne or Gold Coast are for me… maybe even Syd.’

When a follower inquired about how Soldo was taking the news, Becirevic showed her sense of humour by posting a photo of him facing the corner of a lift with his hands down by his sides accompanied by the words ‘surprisingly taking it really well’.

She also wrote that they plan to keep their relationship going ‘long distance for a while’ and have him travel with her in the off-season, but also admitted they’ll struggle with his inability to visit her before Port’s campaign ends later this year.

Becirevic’s worries about Adelaide were foreshadowed when the biomedical science student first announced the move last November, shortly after she turned heads and announced herself as one of Australia’s hottest WAGs when she and Soldo attended Richmond’s best and fairest awards.

‘Tbh [to be honest] can’t say I ever thought I would ever move to Adelaide,’ she wrote.

‘I’ve never even been to Adelaide before so I actually have no idea what to expect … and I hear so many mixed reviews.

‘It’s not forever, but who knows I could end up loving it. Excited for a new chapter and to meet some new people.’

When the couple met two years ago she ruled out a long-distance relationship, insisting it ‘wasn’t an option’.

‘I know how much I would hate it and struggle, so just gonna embrace it,’ she wrote.

Becirevic’s move to South Australia was the subject of a turf war between two high-profile newspaper columnists last October.

Melbourne-based Jackie Epstein questioned whether she would be able to ‘settle for the ‘low-energy lifestyle’ of the state capital, while Adelaide-based Kara Jung hit back by accusing her rival of penning a ‘petty little quip’ and saying residents of the city ‘rolled their eyes and smiled at the poor misconception’.
