Melbourne’s Music Scene Mourns Legendary Rocker Lost to Cancer

Melbourne’s live music community is mourning the sudden death of local rock legend Andrew Hosking, who died aged 64 on Thursday after a long battle with cancer.

Known affectionately as Hocka, Hosking was the frontman of iconic Melbourne pub rock band Coupe Deville, who performed across Australia for over 35 years.

His death was confirmed on social media by his close friend and former bandmate, comedian Marty Fields.

‘It’s with great sadness that I report the passing of my dear old mate Andrew Hosking,’ Marty began.

‘We played together in his band Coupe Deville 35 years ago. Terrible singer, bad musician.

‘But the most extraordinarily charismatic frontman I’ve ever seen. And a beautiful bloke. Vale, mate.’
