Alice Liveing has shared candid insight into her life as a new mother, admitting she’s struggling to leave the house, three weeks after welcoming her first child.
The fitness influencer gave birth to a daughter named Jeannie with her husband Patrick Murphy last month, admitting her daughter’s delivery was ‘wild’ and ‘unexpected.’
In a series of posts on her Instagram Stories, Alice admitted that ‘never fully understood or appreciated’ the challenges of raising a newborn baby, and she’s struggled to find the time to get out and about.
The social media star added that ‘exercise hasn’t even crossed her mind’ because she ‘hasn’t had a second’ between caring for her baby girl.
She explained: ‘I’ll tell you one thing I never appreciated before having a baby and that is the people that are like ‘I literally haven’t even brushed my teeth and it’s one o’clock’ or the people that are like ‘I haven’t left the house and it’s 4pm in the afternoon’.
‘And I never fully understood or appreciated that that is the reality of having a tiny baby – and I always thought I’d be that person that’s like ‘You know how hard can it be, surely’.

‘Like I had such, such good intentions of being like ‘I’m going to go for a walk every morning, get outside, get daylight’ and honestly it is just so much harder.
‘For example today, Jeannie has been feeding on and off. She had a really good sleep this morning but that was when I needed to shower and get myself dressed, so I did manage to do that.
‘Then I was like ”I’ll feed her and get her down in the pram, great.” She literally closed her eyes and then started screaming, got her, then threw up all over me, in my hair, all down my front.
‘And obviously if you have another pair of hands it’s great because when Paddy was here for his paternity leave for two weeks it was fine because I would be like ‘Oh can you take her and I’ll go and do this and then I’ll take her and you go and do that’.
‘But when it’s me on my own I just cannot. My intention was, I’m going to leave the house at midday. I’m going to go out for a walk at midday and get some fresh air, best intentions but it’s not going to happen.
‘She threw up all over me, I had to change her again and put her in a whole new outfit, had to wash myself down, then we’re back at square one with feeding because she’s then hungry again.
‘So I get it, I fully get it and I appreciate, I fully appreciate when people say how hard it is to even fit in 10 minutes of exercise.
‘I haven’t even thought about exercise and I’m coming up to three weeks postpartum. It hasn’t even crossed my mind because I haven’t had a second.’

Alice went on to tell her followers: ‘It’s also like, when you have a bit of a Velcro baby, which by the way, she’s three weeks old, not even three weeks old, so I’m not saying that’s abnormal, and actually one of the things that loads of commented from that story yesterday is that it’s completely normal for this behaviour that they don’t want to be put down.
‘Of course they don’t they’ve been inside you for nine months in like a little cosy space and I’m fine with it, but I’m like ‘when do you eat?’ like I haven’t eaten yet today, I’m permanently dehydrated, I literally look at my wee and I’m like ‘oh god!’
‘It’s worth it, but it’s hard my God, and just, I’m sorry to anyone that I’ve every maybe thought ”ah you know how hard can it be?” yeah I get it.’
Alice also shared a later post sharing some of the challenges she’s faced while ‘solo parenting,’ after her husband Patrick returned to work following his paternity leave.
Alongside a video of herself cradling her baby girl, she wrote the caption: ‘I was the one who really thought ‘how hard can it be’?
‘I had ambitions of a beautiful morning walk, Coffee dates with friends, Getting my nails done, Peeing alone…
‘And those things will come. But now isn’t my time and I’m grateful that I’m learning to embrace the slowness of my days rather than fight to feel like I should be doing more.
‘I wish someone had maybe prepared me more for the reality of this. But then, I really don’t think I’d have been able to fully appreciate the extent of it until I was in the thick of Paddy being back at work and solo parenting each day.
‘It’s not my forever, and that’s good to know. But it’s teaching me so much and for that I’m grateful. To anyone in the thick of the fourth trimester, solidarity.’

‘It’s been a whirlwind two weeks, and I’ve taken the most time offline since I started posting over 10 years ago to soak up every single second of this bubble we’re in.
‘Paddy goes back to work tomorrow, and I’m already feeling so wobbly about it, but it felt like the right time to be back here so I can share with you all and start getting back to our new normal.

‘I’m due October so the countdown is truly on. Big big love and I cannot wait to get back to sharing so much more soon.’
The blogger, rose to fame with her Alice-with-the-abs persona, and now dedicates her career to helping people be healthy whatever their weight.
Despite becoming a hugely successful cookbook author and receiving publishing deals that celebrity chefs would envy, Alice has revealed that her dedication to so-called ‘clean eating’ left her sleeping badly, with thinning hair and ‘terrible’ skin.

She has revealed she was 25 years old and had just met her now-husband Paddy when she visited a fertility specialist to find out why her periods had stopped, but she was shocked by the doctor’s assessment.
Alice recalled: ‘She told me, ‘You’re not eating enough and doing too much exercise, your body is in a state of stress and if you carry on you won’t be able to have children.’ Those words changed my life’.
Following the news she might struggle to conceive, she began following a programme to gain 10kg which saw her exercising less and eating more.
However, as she slowly put on weight, the influencer previously revealed she struggled to always stick to the programme and fell back into ‘bad behaviours’ from time to time.
As she changed her life, so too did her career, and Alice dropped ‘Clean Eating’ from her Instagram title in 2017.
