Katie Price Hits Out at Ex Peter Andre Over ‘Parenting Rights’

Katie Price made a not so subtle dig at her ex-husband Peter Andre as she complained about ‘parenting rights’ during a new episode of her podcast.

The former glamour model, 47, who did not specifically name Peter, risked the wrath of her ex-partner by bemoaning the lack of control she has a mother.

Speaking on her podcast which she hosts with her sister Sophie, 35, said that she struggles with someone ‘dictating’ what her children do – without her having a say.

Katie and Peter have long been embroiled in a very public spat, more recently over their two children, Princess, 18, and Junior, 20.

Katie said: ‘When you’ve got a child, right. I don’t know the right word, but say like with your kids. If you had someone dictating what your kids do and they won’t give you a say, it’s like taking your mother’s instinct. Your mother’s right.

‘It does hurt my feelings because I am their mother and I will also be their mother, regardless. People who make money off them will come and go, yet your mother will be there forever.’

Sophie joked: ‘Has mum actually said that to you before?’

The mother of five replied: ‘No, but it’s true.’

Katie and Peter were recently at odds over her being banned from appearing in Princess’ ITV reality series, The Princess Diaries.

Peter and Princess’ stepmother Emily have now pulled out from the second season the show following backlash from Katie.

Insiders told the Daily Mail that the influencer made the decision after discussions with her pop star father, 52, who agreed to step back, along with Emily, 36, in order to quieten the ‘noise’ surrounding his ex-wife Katie’s absence from the show.

Princess’s brother Junior, however, will remain by her side, with cameras expected to follow the young star abroad as she explores new business ventures, as well as at home, where she has a ‘big beauty gig’ lined up in Liverpool.

Last August, Katie hit out at being deliberately excluded from The Princess Diaries, claiming that Peter and his management team considered her ‘trash.’

Katie expressed her frustrations at being ‘disrespected’ and ‘disregarded’, saying she longed to be by her daughter’s side as she follows in the footsteps of her famous reality TV parents and bids to take over their crown. 

Now, with Peter and Emily stepping away from the project in front of the cameras, the Mysterious Girl singer is reportedly hoping that the second and third series will be ‘all about Princess.’

A source revealed: ‘Pete and Emily will not feature in The Princess Diaries seasons two and three. It was discussed between him and Princess, and they decided as a family that it’s better for the show to focus on Princess alone, rather than her family life.

‘Katie was obviously very hurt over not being asked to film alongside Princess for season one, and she caused a lot of drama and upset behind the scenes.

‘No one wants Princess to feel caught between her two parents, so Pete has taken a massive step back, which he hopes will resolve many of the issues. 

‘Everyone just wants the best for Princess, and the show is her series after all, now she’s 18, she can stand on her own two feet.’

An insider added: ‘It’s a nightmare for producers because they absolutely loved having Pete and Emily on the show. 

‘Now they’re struggling for content and storylines with just Princess alone and miss those interactions with her family at home.’

During series one, Pete was filmed supporting Princess as she learned to drive and delivering an emotional speech at her 18th birthday party, an event Katie claimed she was excluded from.

The Princess Diaries, which has been renewed for two new seasons, also showed the teen at home with her family, including stepmother Emily, while Katie appeared only via a voice recording.

Katie vented her fury over being snubbed from Princess’s first-ever reality show during an angry outburst on her podcast.

The former glamour model was responding to claims that she was damaging her daughter’s growing image due to her well-documented personal problems, including drug and alcohol addiction, drink-driving arrests, and multiple bankruptcies. 

Katie said: ‘I want the best for Junior and Princess, and I would never get in the way of it.

‘But what hurt my feelings, and it does upset me, is when your kids grow up, you go to their assemblies, you go to their Christmas things, you go to their awards, you go to their football matches or gymnastics, you’re involved in everything they do.

‘And knowing that, what my career has been, Princess is taking that same path, trying to do the same as what I’ve done, which I absolutely love and adore Princess.’

‘But I have not been allowed to go on any photo shoot, no signings or Superdrug openings or anything like that. Why? Because I’m not allowed and I’m not welcome.

‘And it puts Princess in a situation because I don’t want her to feel she has to choose between me and her work because I want her to do well.

‘And I have said to Princess, just see how it feels for me because I should be there supporting you, I want to be there to support you like my family did. And I’m your mum, and especially as you’re doing stuff that I did, I’m proud of you and want to be there.’

Pete and Katie, who share Junior and Princess, were married for four years before splitting up in May, 2009, with their divorced finalised later that year. 

Since their breakup, when Junior was aged four and Princess was two, Peter has gone onto marry doctor Emily, and the couple share children Amelia, Theo, and Arabella. 

Katie pinned the blame firmly on Pete and his management team, who once represented her during her marriage to the singer, for blocking her involvement with the show.

She added: ‘But unfortunately, the management team and Pete, won’t allow me to be near here. They have made it clear, they won’t allow Princess to do photoshoots with me, they won’t allow me to got to any events with Princess because they think I am trash basically.

‘Now, everyone knows she’s my daughter. So, what difference does it make? Like if it wasn’t for me or Pete, Princess and Junior wouldn’t be known anyway. And I find it an insult as I’ve been in the industry for 30 years.’

She added that there was no one better suited to guide Princess in this journey.

Pete hit back on Instagram, revealing for the first time in August that he had sole custody of Junior and Princess from 2018 until they reached adulthood, citing their ‘safety’ as the reason. 

Writing on the platform, he said: ‘The latest comments about my children’s welfare and living arrangements compel me to set the record straight.

‘For well documented reasons, and for their safety, Junior and Princess came into my care in 2018 and remained with me until they reached adulthood.

‘In 2019, the family courts issued a legally binding order to enforce this arrangement. I have never made this public before, out of respect for my children.’
