Gogglebox Couple’s Unrecognizable 80s Throwback: Can You Guess?

They joined the cast of Gogglebox in 2019 and have become fan favourites with their witty remarks.

And just last month, the couple took to Instagram to share a nostalgic throwback snap from the 80s.

In the photo, the couple looked completely unrecognisable as they enjoyed a date night out.

For the occasion, she donned a stylish purple dress which featured a draped neckline and styled her red locks in a voluminous blowout.

Meanwhile, he looked incredibly dapper in a black double-breasted blazer, paired with a polka-dot tie and a crisp white shirt.

But do you recognise them?

That’s right, it’s Sue Sheehan and her husband Steve!

The couple have been regulars on the hit Channel 4 show since 2019 and have given fans an insight into their life in their South London home.

Sue and Steve, who are both in their 60s and have been married for nearly 47 years, are devoted parents to two daughters and proud grandparents to their grandson, Roman.

Throughout the years, Steve, who was a former black cab driver, and Sue, who is semi-retired, have left viewers in stitches with their amusing reactions to the latest TV highlights.

They also regularly keep their 6,000 Instagram followers up-to-date on their everyday lives.

In 2024, Sue took a brief hiatus from Gogglebox, later bravely sharing her battle with Bell’s Palsy, which causes temporary weakness or paralysis in the muscles on one side of the face.

In December, she and her husband appeared on the show after being absent for a while, and Sue candidly discussed the hurdles she faced post-diagnosis.

She explained: ‘I mean, I’ve had to relearn to do a couple of things since this Bell’s palsy.

‘One is to speak through the side of my mouth, and the other one is chewing. Chewing takes a long time.

‘I have offered to chew your food for you, but you declined,’ Steve added. ‘I’ve gotta say, you haven’t lost the sharp side of your tongue though, have you?’

‘No, it’s sharper than ever, actually,’ Sue jokingly responded.

Fans quickly rushed to X – formerly known as Twitter – to share their well-wishes to Sue, with some thanking her for raising awareness.

‘Best Wishes to Sue on #Gogglebox as she recovers from Bell’s Palsy x; Sending love to Sue; Poor Sue. Hope her Bell’s palsy clears soon.’

‘Fair play to Sue on #gogglebox for appearing with Bell’s palsy. Raising awareness can only be good, speaking as someone who is (hopefully temporarily) suffering from the same after brain surgery. I can imagine how much courage that takes.’

‘I didn’t know Sue had Bells Palsy hope she’s doing ok; Thoughts with Sue x one of my favourites on #gogglebox.’

Gogglebox airs Fridays on Channel 4, with all episodes available to stream on demand.
