Taylor Swift Fans Go Crazy Over New Album ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ Filled with References to Ex-Boyfriend Matty Healy, Leaked Just Hours Before Official Release

Taylor Swift has sent fans into a frenzy after hearing that her new album The Tortured Poets Department makes many references to her former flame Matty Healy.

The 34-year-old’s 11th album, which is set to be released on Friday, has reportedly been leaked hours before it is officially out.

And fans who have seemingly had an early glimpse of the new album have spotted that the 1975 singer is heavily mentioned.

Taylor and Matty sent the showbiz world into meltdown with their whirlwind romance, which came hot on the heels of her break-up with boyfriend Joe Alwyn, 34, in February 2023.

Whether the album leak is legit or not, Taylor’s fans are shocked to hear Matty even feature because their romance was so brief.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, fans descended into chaos after ‘hearing’ the lyrics.

Some wrote: ‘The Tortured Poets Department being about Matty Healy and not Joe Alwyn is the gag of the century.’

‘Harry styles got 1989, joe alwyn got lover and reputation but matty healy literally got the tortured poets department written about him so who really won here.’

‘The tortured poets department was always going to be about matty healy.’

‘The tortured poets department? more like the matty healy redemption album.’

‘Streets saying the tortured poets department album is about matty healy, i don’t blame her for writing that album i too be acting that way over mid men who i dated for 2 months.’

It is also thought that the album will focus on her breakup from actor Joe, who she dated for six years.

DailyMail.com has seen a screenshot from a Swifties group chat in which a file containing the allegedly leaked album has been shared.

Upon hearing these snippets, many have claimed that they are fake and created by artificial intelligence (AI) – however others have been left convinced that the songs offer an early access pass to the official album.

A zip file circulating online featured 17 different songs – the same number of hits that Taylor confirmed would be included on her upcoming record.

DailyMail.com has reached out to Taylor’s representatives for comment.

News of the so-called leak sent shockwaves through the singer’s fanbase, with some rushing to listen to the songs.

Others were quick to defend the popstar, urging others to ‘report’ any posts circulating the clips and insisting that Taylor’s most die-hard supporters would wait until the official album is released.

‘Tip: Turn Your Device’s Volume COMPLETELY OFF on Twitter for the NEXT 24 HRS and REPORT EVERY POST spamming about album leaks! We got this!’ one person wrote.

Another chimed in: ‘It’s not a Taylor Swift album release if you don’t have fake a** “Swifties” spreading leaks because they can’t wait one day to listen to the project… pathetic.’

A third wrote: ‘Please do not spread the leak of Taylor Swift’s new album. Remember, this is Taylor’s work, respect it, just like you would you favorite artist. Don’t punish the artist for how their fans behave.’

Although this leak has not been verified, it would not be the first time that Taylor has seen one of her records released online ahead of its official debut.

In 2017, the singer’s Reputation album, which was also due for release on a Friday, was leaked on the internet a day before it was officially shared with the world.

However, in the years since that last leak, AI has become increasingly advanced, with several different musicians being targeted by fake, computer-generated songs released in their names.
