Brooke Burke Hints at Bad Blood with DWTS, Refuses Reunion

Brooke Burke is not looking for a happy reunion with Dancing With The Stars despite being a champion and co-hosting the show over eight seasons.

The 54-year-old star – who recently showcased her incredible bikini body –  talked candidly about the possibility of returning to the reality competition show and seemingly hinted at some bad blood.

The 20th anniversary special is airing on Tuesday night which has many competitors and personalities returning including the surprise addition of her former co-host Tom Bergeron and many have wondered if Burke will also gracing the studio with her presence.

The media personality shut down those assertions during a recent appearance on the I Choose Me podcast with host Jenny Garth.

Burke bluntly replied: ‘A redo is hard for me.

‘I guess there’s some things that are worth a repeat in your life, but I feel like I wrung it out and I did everything I needed to do on that show’

Burke has a storied history with the popular ABC series as she won season 7 of the show with pro partner Derek Hough in 2008.

She then returned to co-host alongside the aforementioned Bergeron, 70, from seasons 10 through 17.

Burke explained: ‘I never say no, never closed doors professionally, but I mean, it was eight seasons, and I did everything I needed to do in the ballroom.’

Her contract was not renewed after season 17 in 2013 and she was famously replaced by Erin Andrews.

Of the experience, she said it was ‘one of the hardest things I’ve ever done in my entire life’ but did insist that she ‘had so much fun.’

Burke previously expressed that she was disappointed by her ‘shocking’ exit from the hosting gig.

She was asked if she had ‘enough’ on the Getting Grilled With Curtis Tone podcast in September 2024 she replied: ‘I probably had enough, but then when you leave something and you think you’ve had enough, you kind of, in hindsight, look back and want a little bit more.

‘As a host, when you’re on a live show, it was a long time and I think I was ready to do other things.

‘But I think it’s shocking when there’s a change in our business, just to humanize it, to be honest, to be vulnerable. I think it was really disappointing. I wasn’t expecting it.’

Though Burke has maintained that she will not be returning to DWTS, her co-host Bergeron explained why he will be returning as guest judge for the show’s 20th anniversary on Tuesday.

He told The Hollywood Reporter: ‘When Conrad Green came back as the showrunner — he had been my first showrunner back in 2005, and he came back on board when, I think it’s fair to say, the show was having a little bit of a rickety period. He kind of put everything back together again, Humpty Dumpty-style (laughs), and he started extending an olive branch to me.

‘First, he invited me to come sit in the audience for the 500th show. While I appreciated the overture, I knew I’d be too fidgety just sitting there. I needed a role where I could cause a little more trouble, and being a guest judge was something I suggested to him at lunch a few months ago. I said, “Look, I’ll charge you a scale, just union scale, and then you make a nice contribution to the Motion Picture and Television Fund.” With those conditions in place, I felt very comfortable. And happily, they met my terms.’

The television star was asked by the publication if he came back just because it was the 20th anniversary episode to which he denied.

Bergeron was host of the reality competition series from 2005 to 2019 before being let go ahead of its 29th season in July 2020.

He then explained the reason he did come back as he said: ‘If the previous regime was still in charge of the show, I wouldn’t go back. It was really because Conrad’s there, and you can tell.

‘Just look at what the show is doing. It’s having a resurgence. It’s doing things that I can’t imagine many, if any, 20-year-old shows have done. They’ve been on a ratings tear.’

For his work on the series he received nine Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Competition Program and earned the award once in 2012.
