Outrage over insensitive social media post promoting Skye Wheatley’s eating disorder on I’m A Celeb: Viewers criticize ‘inappropriate’ content

Skye Wheatley bravely shared her battle with eating disorders on Tuesday’s episode of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! Australia.

The former Big Brother star and influencer opened up on her battle, discussing how being in the spotlight affected her health.

However, I’m A Celeb viewers called out the reality show’s social media accounts for the way they promoted the revelation earlier in the day.

One Instagram post shared a gallery of photos teasing several moments of Tuesday night’s episode.

One photo captioned ‘Skye’s eating disorder tonight’ in bold, and many users believed the post should have come with a trigger warning.

‘Whoever decided tile #3 was a good idea to post needs to have a rethink. A very important but potentially triggering topic that needs to be spoken about but should not be used in an advertisement as a ‘hook’. Really bad taste channel 10,’ one user wrote.

‘So disappointing that someone’s experience with this illness is presented in such a way,’ a viewer added.

‘What on earth on tile 3. Could’ve used much better wording.’

‘Next time a trigger warning ???’

‘Y’all didn’t even specify that some topics may have been triggering? insane for you to also post about it,’ another user commented.

The account posted a quote from Skye in the episode: ‘This is my life. This is what I’ve been through. I’m not going to try to hide it.’

‘So if I can be the example for other girls, then that would mean the world to me,’ the quote continued.
