I’m A Celebrity’s Denise Drysdale reignites feud with Ita Buttrose over ‘brussels sprouts’ and suggests throwing a turkey at her rival on the show

Denise Drysdale has reignited her infamous feud with Ita Buttrose. 

On Monday’s episode of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! Australia, the TV veteran recounted the infamous episode which showed her pegging her rival Studio 10 co-star with a brussels sprout. 

‘We were filming and I got the turkey and brussels sprouts on this tray’ the 75-year-old began. 

‘We did it 11 times, and at one stage I turned around and Ita was just sitting over in the corner. And I just picked up the brussels sprout and I lobbed it, I didn’t throw it I lobbed it. ‘ 

She continued: ‘Unfortunately, it landed right on her red Chanel suit and she wasn’t happy. But there was so much publicity for it I couldn’t believe it.

‘Had I known how much publicity there was going to be I would have thrown the turkey!’ 

Denise then added with a laugh: ‘Let’s hope that doesn’t go to air’. 

The in-fighting speculation arose from a real incident that involved Denise throwing vegetables at the former magazine maven. 

‘I threw the brussels sprout at her (Ita) — I have to admit that — at the Christmas party and I did the wrong thing, so it is totally my fault,’ Denise said in 2018.

‘I was in a jovial mood. The (official Studio 10) Christmas party was that night and I could not go, so I had a couple of glasses of champagne ­towards the end of the day and I threw the brussels sprout and I shouldn’t have.’ 

Explaining that she respects her co-host, Denise added: ‘I rang Ita for Christmas; we talk, we all get along. I did the wrong thing, it was totally my fault, I am sorry it happened.’

For her part, Ita previously vehemently denied she has an ongoing feud with her cast mate Denise.

Speaking to The Kyle & Jackie O Show, Ita insisted: ‘There’s no feud, it’s rubbish. Well, as Donald Trump would say it’s fake news!’

But when pressed on the infamous ‘Brussels sprout incident’ she refused to elaborate further.
