Aidan is reportedly joining the Coronation Street cast as part of a new storyline involving the recently introduced Driscoll family.

Bohemian Rhapsody actor Aaron McCusker is set to play Ben, the new landlord of the Rovers, who is married to returning character Eva Price, played by Catherine Tyldesley.

The couple will be joined by Father Ted star Pauline McLynn, who plays Ben’s outspoken mother, Maggie.

It’s understood that Aidan will take on the role of a newcomer named Alan.

A Coronation Street source told The Mirror: ‘He is in one episode in flashback scenes, where we find out some of the family history from way back when Ben and his brother were children.’

They added: ‘He’s just a guest artist, but it’s a really unique episode.’

Daily Mail has contacted ITV and Aidan’s representative for comment.

During his time on EastEnders, Aidan portrayed the twisted character Lewis Butler.
