Sunrise host and father-of-three Matt ‘Shirvo’ Shirvington shares the surprising secret to ‘family bliss’

He’s a dedicated father-of-three who has one of the best gigs on Australian television.

And now Sunrise star Matt ‘Shirvo’ Shirvington has revealed the secret to a harmonious family life.

The 45-year-old breakfast TV host says the key to ‘bliss’ is meal time and a menu everyone can agree on.

In an article penned for 7News on Wednesday, Matt wrote: ‘In the wild seas of daily life, where deciding what’s for dinner often feels like navigating uncharted waters our family has found solace in the humble routine of taco Tuesdays and Friday pizza nights — it’s the simple things, right?’

Matt, who shares daughters Sienna, 17, Winter, 15, and son Lincoln, five, with wife Jessica, said dinnertime often sparks a ‘battleground of preferences.’

Sienna, an ‘ardent eater, Matt revealed, is often caught in a ‘crossfire’ with middle-child Winnie wanting something ‘healthy and exotic’ to eat.

Lincoln meanwhile prefers the ‘familiar’.

It comes after the former athlete took over the Sunrise gig from retiring TV veteran David ‘Kochie’ Koch in June last year.
