9News Melbourne is set to farewell one of its biggest stars this month, as the city’s most beloved weather presenter is set to sign off on November 18.
Livinia Nixon first joined the network in 1997 and has held the position of 9News Melbourne weather presenter since 2004.
The TV presenter, 50, announced her shocking departure on Friday, saying she has decided to focus on her family while her sons enter their senior schooling years.
‘After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I’ve decided to step back from this role,’ she said.
‘My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them.Â
‘It’s been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers’ homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family.’

‘Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me,’ she continued.
‘When I discussed it with our boys, they said, “We’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.”‘
But while Livinia may be leaving her long-held role as the weeknight weather presenter, the media personality will not be exiting the Nine Network.
Livinia will continue in her current presenting roles on Getaway and Postcards.Â
‘I’m thrilled to be staying with Nine and will be continuing my roles on Getaway and Postcards,’ she assured. Â
‘I am incredibly grateful to the 9News team and our loyal audience for their support over so many years.’
Nine’s National News Director Hugh Nailon commended Livinia’s vast career in the newsroom, calling her a ‘shining star’ of the industry.Â
‘Livinia’s contribution to the Melbourne newsroom has been immeasurable,’ he said.

She currently shares sons Henry, 15, and Ted, 12, with her builder and property developer husband Alistair Jack.Â
A replacement for the 9News Melbourne weather role is yet to be announced.
