Rebel Wilson’s controversial joke at the 2024 AACTA Awards that was banned from Channel 10 broadcast

Rebel Wilson is undoubtedly one of Australia’s most successful and revered comedic talents.

But the famed funnywoman, 43, may have pushed the envelope a tad too far while hosting the 2024 AACTA Awards on the Gold Coast on Saturday.

According to news.com.au, Wilson shot off a quip about cancer that went down like a led balloon.

‘Why is Australia so good at making horror? Is it because everyone had that aunt who’s had half a nose chopped off because of skin cancer?’ asked Rebel, who seemed hesitant to go through with the whole joke.

The joke was met with awkward laughs and groans by the audience, which included Margot Robbie, Cate Blanchett, Sophie Wilder, Elsa Pataky, and Simon Baker.

‘It’ll also be the only one where people will get munted and chuck a spew in the dunny. I love Queensland… It’s like if Jetstar was a state,’ she said.

‘All the best Married at First Sight participants are from Queensland,’ Wilson added.
