Jelly Roll: ‘Treated Like a Criminal’ at Louis Vuitton

Jelly Roll made headlines this week when he claimed he was ‘treated like a criminal’ at Louis Vuitton in Sydney, but there is one thing most can’t help but point out.

Online users have reacted to the news en masse, saying the US-born rapper, 40, only has himself to blame for the way he was allegedly treated at the upscale fashion house.

Critics and fans alike have said Louis Vuitton staff members were likely suspicious of the hitmaker because of his numerous tattoos, some of which are on his face.

‘Yeah face tats imagine that. Meant to be intimidating and are. Not exactly rocket science,’ one person wrote.

‘Isn’t that the look you were going for?’ said another.

‘Face tatts tell you that reading the book by its cover can be a good choice,’ a third added.

‘If it looks like a duck,’ someone else joked, as one user commented: ‘Probably something you should think about before getting face tattoos.’

‘Yeah, unfortunately face tattoos do intimidate, as they are intended, granted he has turned his life around, but unless you know who he is, you would be guarded,’ said another.

‘Rich or poor, muso or not, modern or old fashioned, as I was in my youth the only people with face tattoos were crims and I guess for some that stigma still remains,’ one person penned.

‘People are old judgemental. The people that get face tattoos are wanting to be noticed, and that was achieved.’

Jelly Roll, who has served jail time in the United States, posted a video on Wednesday to rant about his experience at a Louis Vuitton store in Sydney.

Wearing a baseball cap backwards and dressed in his trademark sweats, the musician—real name Jason DeFord—was photographed outside the shop in the CBD.

Appearing angry after the experience, the heavily tattooed Tennessee-born artist began: ‘Hey man, the Louis Vuitton in Sydney, legitimately just treated us like we were finna (sic) come in and rob that place.

‘I have never been looked at more like a crim… Listen, the last time I was looked at like a criminal this bad… I was an actual criminal this bad.’

Jelly Roll, who arrived Down Under last month for a series of concerts, did not offer any details about what happened inside the store.

Daily Mail has reached out to Louis Vuitton for comment.

The performer touched down at Sydney Airport last month ahead of his first headline Australian tour.

The acclaimed performer looked notably slimmed down as he made his way through the terminal, having reportedly lost 90 kilograms.

The Wild Ones hitmaker has since played shows in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.
