The Inbetweeners Fans Rejoice as Show Stars James Buckley and Joe Thomas Reunite After 14 Years

The Inbetweeners stars James Buckley and Joe Thomas reunited as they posed for an Instagram selfie on Tuesday.

The actors, who played characters Jay Cartwright and Simon Cooper, seemed pleased to see one another as they were all smiles in the snap.

They showed their friendship is still going strong nearly 10 years after the hit franchise – which followed four teenage boys navigating their way through sixth form – wrapped for good.

James, 36, penned: ‘Me and Joe the other night. He’s on instagram by the way @itsjoethomas.’

Fans of the hit E4 sitcom took to the comments and begged the stars for a ‘reunion’ episode and also referenced the shows famous catch phrase, ‘Oooo friend’.

One wrote: ‘I legitimately don’t think either of you look any older than you did on the show’

Another agreed: ‘Honestly if they just shaved they could easily do a new series of the inbetweeners’

A third said: ‘I agree. That would be so good, even just a one off special’.

Another gushed: ‘Easily could do Inbetweeners again, none of you look much older than on the show!!

‘Would be the best TV comeback show ever to be fair.’

Several other fans referenced the show, adding: ‘Oooooooooooh FRIEND.’

‘A podcast with the 4 of you would LITERALLY break the internet…..I’d pay ANYTHING for that to become a reality,’ added another.

Although The Inbetweeners initially received a bad start, the show has since been described as one of the most successful British sitcoms of the 21st century.

During its initial run, the sitcom spanned three series between 2008 and 2010 and has two movies.

The franchise wrapped in 2014 and its stars have all gone onto other projects since.

Simon Bird – who starred as the studious Will McKenzie – went on to play a long-running role in Friday Night Dinner, while Blake appeared opposite Brenda Blethyn in the short-lived ITV1 sitcom Kate and Koji and Joe starred in White Gold.

James has ‘surprised’ himself by becoming the highest-paid star on Cameo, having raked in £1 million dishing out personalised messages for fans on the celebrity greetings website.

The actor recently explained that despite the success of the series, a reboot could never be on the cards because the jokes could not be done these days.

He said: ‘It was all justified because they were never the heroes. They were idiots and they got what they deserved.

‘That’s why it can’t come back – you can’t have men in their late thirties acting like they’re in sixth form and getting away with that stuff.’

James added that despite being constantly asked about bringing the show back, there is ‘no amount of money’ that would make him agree to it.

‘I always get asked if I’d ever do more and I said ‘For no amount of money’ and that quote got run away. I didn’t mean about money – it means more to me than money.’

‘I’m always surprised by the success of anything’
