The fitness fanatic, who boasts a bicep measurement of 36 centimetres, was the first new Gladiator to appear after stepping up to face nurse Tasha Lawrence.
Livi was introduced as ‘6ft tall, a footballer turned bodybuilder who has got all the attributes to be a duel winner’ and can ‘lift 160kg which is the equivalent of a gorilla.’
Taking to X as the show played out, fans were quick to draw comparisons with Jet, real name Diane Youdale, a show regular following its original launch on ITV1 in 1993.
‘Watching Gladiators on bbc1. What a nostalgic throwback. Fun so far with great presentation. Diamond is definitely this generations Jet!’ [sic] wrote one.
A second added: ‘#Diamond the new Jet?’
While a third wrote:’Will take something special to replicate that talent. Diamond is showing promise!’
Elsewhere a fourth viewer, evidently impressed with her imposing physique, wrote: ‘That diamond was CUT.’
While a fourth quipped: ‘Diamond is pretty ain’t she?’
Viewers had already been given a blast from the past during the opening credits, when the original theme tune started rolling at 5.50pm, causing one to state it felt like ‘1995 all over again’.
The reboot was filmed at Sheffield’s Utilita Arena and hosted by funny man Bradley Walsh and his son Barney, but despite new hosts, many praised the broadcaster for keeping the show close to the original format.
