Nicole Young Denies Drug Problem After Alleged Firing from Selling Sunset

Selling Sunset personality Nicole Young denied that she has ever had a problem with substance abuse, as alleged by her costars Chrishell Stause and Amanza Smith.

When asked by TMZ if there was any validity to the claims raised by her costars during the Netflix show’s Friendsgiving edition, Young, 39, said, ‘Absolutely not – I’ve never had any substance abuse problem.’

Young told the outlet in Studio City, California that Stause, 44, and Smith, 48, were well aware that she doesn’t have any issues with drugs.

‘Even worse they know about – so it just makes the public accusations all the more heinous,’ Young said.

The remarks about drugs during the meal led Young to refer to Stause’s deceased parents (whose addiction issues the reality star has past discussed publicly).

Young told Stause: ‘Honey, you’re confusing me with your parents, OK? You seem to be obsessed with drugs.’

Following her alleged dismissal in the wake of the conflict, Young said that recent events illustrate that ‘there’s definitely some clear and blatant favoritism going on’ at The Oppenheim Group.

‘That stems from allowing one person in the group to have a significantly more power,’ Young said, ‘and that results in some pretty infuriating double standards.’

Young told the outlet she was being unfairly punished for speaking out, which marked a precedent.

‘This is the first time anyone has ever received any kind of repercussion from saying anything even outside of any work environment – shots have been fired,’ Young said.

She added: ‘It just doesn’t doesn’t make sense – and I think that is what is really upsetting for me and for a lot of viewers.’

When asked why she believed she was painted to be the villain during the latest season, Young said her independence was a culprit in that.

‘I think it’s clear since season one, the one who is strong enough to stand alone gets painted as a villain,’ Young said.

Asked if she believed Stause was leaving as she said she would, Young said, ‘Who cares at this point?’ adding, ‘I don’t know if her statements about that carry much weight anymore.’

Young told the outlet she was ‘really excited’ to be moving from Los Angeles to Nashville and will handle real estate portfolios in both areas.

Speaking to Netflix’s Tudum about the incident October 29, Young said that she didn’t regret her actions.

‘I’m proud of how I stood my ground, and I’m proud of how I hope things will come across,’ said Young.

She added, ‘At least I can walk away with my head held high.’

Young said Stause and Emma Hernan brought an awful energy with them into the Friendsgiving event that preceded her departure.

‘Unfortunately, as soon as Emma and Chrishell walked into that scene, it was like a dark cloud came with them, and the vibe immediately changed,’ she said.
