Michael Hing, host of The Project, stuns viewers with a shocking on-air confession about his participation in an “illegal” hobby

It’s something that a lot of Australian’s have tried out.

And now funnyman Michael Hing has stepped forward to admit that he too has had a go at brewing his own alcoholic beverages at home.

The 38-year-old comedian made the confession during Friday’s edition of The Project and joked his home brew of choice  – vodka – was ‘probably illegal’.

Michael’s surprising revelation came during a segment about next month’s tax hike which will send the price of beer and spirits soaring.

Panelist Nick Cody suggested that since the cost of a pint of beer will rise to an average of $12, many drinkers may turn to ‘home brewing’ to save on cash.

After Nick admitted to trying to brew beer in his bathtub, co-host Susie Youssef asked Michael whether ever had tried doing it.

‘I had a crack making vodka,’ he said, adding: ‘also it may have been illegal.’

Currently, it is legal to distil spirits at home, though ‘home brewers’ of spirits are required to have a license.

Michael meanwhile joined the line-up of Australian current affairs show The Project late last year.
