A crowd of Australian Oasis fans have raised eyebrows by breaking an unspoken Britpop code, after leaving the band’s sold-out Melbourne show over the weekend.
Hundreds of fans exiting Oasis’ packed Marvel Stadium show were seen cheekily singing along to the Blur track Song 2, a hit 1997 single by the cult Britpop band.
This questionable song choice did not go down well, as Oasis and Blur had a huge musical rivalry in the mid-’90s over which group was the better Britpop band.
Tensions almost boiled over when Oasis singer Liam Gallagher, 53, once bumped into Blur frontman Damon Albarn at a party in 1995, and ‘gloated’ about how his band had the number one single in the UK.Â
Shocked viewers took to social media to question the loyalty of Oasis fans singing along to their rivals.
‘LOL. That will teach Noel and Liam to get into a feud with another band. Much better to keep it in the family,’ one person wrote.

‘Liam, we would never do this to you in Argentina,’ a second added.
However, others said they loved the cheeky move and admitted they would have joined in.
‘I’d do this just to p**s off Oasis fans,’ one user quipped.
It comes after Australian fans were left outraged after Oasis stars Liam and Noel Gallagher cheekily mocked the Aussie accent during their sold-out show in Melbourne on Friday.
The Britpop legends were performing a sing-along of their iconic song Don’t Look Back in Anger with the packed crowd of 55,000 people at Marvel Stadium when they made the quip.
During the chorus, guitarist Noel, 58, mocked the roaring crowd over their very pronounced Australian accent.
‘Anga? Anga? What the f***ing hell is “anga”?,’ a confused Noel asked, as Liam looked on in amusement.
Furious fans quickly took to social media to slam the Manchester natives for making fun of the iconic Australian accent.

‘As if he says it any better LMAO,’ one person quipped.
However, another suggested the brothers were simply displaying their trademark cheeky humour.
‘I was there last night, I would be surprised if anyone took offence to that comment. The Poms and the Aussies have been taking the p**s out of each other on how we pronounce words for a couple of centuries now,’ one person wrote.
Oasis will perform in Melbourne again on Tuesday, with the Wonderwall fan favourites then set to head to New South Wales.
They will put on shows in Sydney at the Accor Stadium on Friday and Saturday next week, November 7 and 8, for the first time they have toured the country since 2005.
The band has a huge following in Australia, with two of their albums reaching number one on the ARIA chart and their hit song Wonderwall hitting the top spot in 1996.
Last year, the band announced they were reuniting for the first time since 2009 after Noel and Liam finally put their differences aside following a long-standing feud.
