Molly-Mae Hague Responds to Backlash Over Docu-Series Criticism

Molly-Mae Hague has broken her silence on her Amazon Prime series Behind It All after facing backlash following the second series.

The Love Island star, 26, was slammed for her ‘diva and bratty behaviour’ which had ‘put fans off her’ after cameras gave a glimpse into her lavish lifestyle.

Now Molly has shared her latest YouTube video on Monday where she has addressed the backlash and revealed that she has been forced to delete TikTok due to the comments.

The influencer said: ‘I had seen what people were saying about the doc and then made the executive decision to basically delete TikTok.’

Molly added how deleting the app ‘has been quite frankly one of the best decisions I ever made’ and despite having thick skin she find that ‘there’s something about that app that just feels like so insanely toxic’.

The mother-of-one explained how her makeup artist was scrolling on social media and saw ‘at least three things within that short time of me looking at her phone that I didn’t want to see’.

‘So, I just felt like, okay, definitely in no way, shape or form rushing to get the app back anytime soon.

‘I just want to say that I’ve also received so many incredibly lovely messages and people saying that they’ve also really enjoyed it.

‘And that’s literally all I wanted for the doc. It’s never ever been to do anything other than just create something for people to watch and enjoy.

‘And I think I’ve definitely definitely learned a lot,’ she said.

Molly explained how she was ‘severely anxious’ about her docu-series coming out as she ‘can’t make everyone happy’.

She said: ‘Like I think even before the premiere, there’s a bit of me in this vlog where I’m like severely anxious.

‘I literally said like ‘that’s going to cause this’ and ‘this is going to cause that’.

‘I have been doing this job now for a really really long time and I feel like we kind of had a formula that we followed for years that avoids what has happened with the doc from happening.

She said: 'We spoke about things we don't speak about. We kept things in that probably I would never ever show of myself like because with the last drop of the doc everyone was like we want more'

‘And with this drop of the doc like we literally did the complete opposite of what we normally do.

‘Like we spoke about things we don’t speak about.

‘We kept things in that probably I would never ever show of myself like because with the last drop of the doc everyone was like we want more. We want more.’

Molly continued: ‘So, it’s like you give it, but then it’s not like it’s too much or it’s, you know…

‘I saw someone saying that they fell asleep halfway through one of the episodes because it was so boring yet they feel like the episodes aren’t long enough.’

The influencer added how she ‘really really can’t keep everyone happy’ no matter how much she tries.

During the series, Molly had a ‘diva meltdown’ ahead of her runway debut at the L’Oreal show in Paris last month where she tearfully threatened to pull out at the last minute.

The influencer was left devastated by the choice of gown chosen for her by the brand in dramatic scenes from her show.

In the third episode, Molly’s satin champagne dress, which she did eventually wear, featured shoulder pads and a thigh-high split but she ranted that it ‘baggy’ and the colour ‘washed her out’.

The tearful Love Island star said she was ‘putting on her diva pants’ and standing firm, before declaring she was suffering a panic attack while refusing to walk in the gown alongside fellow guest models Kendall Jenner and Cara Delevingne.

While sister Zoe attempted to calm the situation, Molly-Mae fumed: ‘The dress is not meant to be “It’s fine it will make do” look at me I’ve got my leg out!’

‘I’ve never got my leg out in my whole career, and in the moment I’m meant to have my best look and feel confident, I suddenly have to get my leg out because I’ve got nothing else to wear’.

‘The colour is completely washing me out. I think I’m about to have a panic attack.

‘It doesn’t even accentuate my body, its baggy. I’m meant to be walking out on stage feeling my best in front of 100 people’.

‘I am not walking out in front of Kendal, Cara and Eva [Longoria] not feeling my best. How am I meant to pretend I’m confident when I’m not feeling it.’

While her staff were on the phone to L’Oreal and demanded alterations, the brand said there was no other option of outfit to wear, with time ticking down before Molly-Mae needed to be at the show.

Despite the drama, she did eventually wear the dress on the runway during Paris Fashion Week, a year after she turned down the opportunity due to a lack of confidence.

Molly-Mae, who signed a reported seven-figure deal as a L’Oreal ambassador last year, joined a host of A-list models at Paris City Hall last month for the star-studded show titled ‘Liberty. Equality. Sisterhood. Because You’re Worth It.

Elsewhere Molly revealed she received death threats over the ‘stupid’ comments she made about having a ‘boring summer’.

During the second episode, the influencer opened up about the online backlash she faced after making what she now calls a ‘silly’ comment.

One in particular came after she posted a YouTube video in which she complained that she had ‘not done one fun thing all summer.’

This came despite the fact that earlier in the year, the reality star had enjoyed a string of lavish trips – including skiing in the Swiss resort of St Moritz, city breaks in Budapest, Paris and Dubai, and even a family holiday to Turkey and Centre Parcs with her partner Tommy Fury and their daughter Bambi, two.

Molly-Mae’s comments didn’t go down well with her two million-plus YouTube subscribers, with many claiming she was ‘out of touch, tone-deaf and always moaning’.

Speaking about the backlash in her new show, she said: ‘I was so frustrated with myself when I saw the comments about me saying I’m going to get the end of this summer and not have had any fun and I can completely understand why people had a problem with what I said.

‘The days where the nation has turned against you, they’re not the best days.

‘I can see what happened, it looks like socialising because I have such an incredible job. I have had a great summer, I have an incredible life.

‘It was stupid, it was annoying [what I said]. I am so blessed. I’m definitely not perfect and I definitely think I can make improvements still.

‘I think we are at a stage now where one wrong comment, it could all be … [gone].

‘All there is at the minute on TikTok is the ‘downfall of Molly Mae’, I don’t actually know how I watch all of that and don’t get affected.

‘If I am not feeling a way, I cannot pretend I am. I will continue to be open and vulnerable about motherhood.’
