Lauren Goodger Reflects on Celibacy and Meaningless Exchanges

Lauren Goodger appeared to reflect on her celibacy journey as she shared a post about ‘meaningless exchanges not serving the soul’.

The TOWIE star, 39, has previously confessed to have periods of celibacy. Her then-boyfriend Joey Morrisson was behind bars at the time. 

Speaking after her split from Morrisson in 2017, Lauren said ‘I’ve been properly celibate for a year’ as she discussed his long-awaited release from prison. 

Then in 2019, in a quickly-deleted Instagram post, Lauren said: ‘Can’t believe I didn’t have sex for 2 years.’

Now she appears to have reflected on her celibacy again as she shared a post of a man discussing why women stay celibate to her Instagram Story.

The man in the post could be seen saying: ‘The longer a woman stays celibate, the idea of someone touching her who doesn’t meet her mental, physical, and spiritual wants and needs will literally make her feel sick.

‘She’s no longer willing to settle for meaningless exchanges or relationships that don’t serve and nourish her soul.’

Lauren confessed in 2018 that she didn’t have sex for two years, despite being in a relationship with jailbird Joey Morrisson for 15 months. 

The following year, she took to her Instagram Stories at 1am and posted: ‘Can’t believe I didn’t have sex for 2 years’, before deleting the post a mere two hours later.  

Lauren dated Morrisson for nearly two years on and off while he was behind bars but they split in 2017. He was imprisoned in 2008 for serious drugs related offences.  

Speaking to Closer magazine, after the split, the former TOWIE star revealed she had been celibate for two years and isn’t prepared to just sleep with anyone.

She said: ‘Joey’s going to be knackered when we’re finally alone because we’ll be very busy. There’s lots to do. I’ve been properly celibate for a year but he’s worth the wait.

‘I’m a very sexual person, but I don’t want to be intimate with someone unless I’m in a relationship. I want to settle down and have the fairytale.’ 

It comes days after Lauren said if she took weight loss jabs she would lose four stone in a month and have ‘everyone wanting to work with her’ – before revealing why she isn’t.

She revealed she feels pressure from friends to take the diet aid, claiming that they have threatened to ‘stab her while she sleeps’ with the injection.

However she stood firm on wanting to lose weight the ‘natural’ way, predicting that it would take around a year before she had her ‘dream body’.

Lauren said she won’t take weight loss injections – such as Mounjaro or Ozempic – because she is worried about the long term effects of the drugs.

Speaking to Closer magazine about her plans to lose weight, Lauren said: ‘Cor, I’m feeling the pressure – everyone around me is telling me to go on weight loss injections.

‘I have friends who joke and say I’m going to stab you with it while you’re asleep and it’ll be the best thing you’ve done. You’ll love it!

‘It’s become so normal, they’re all wondering why I haven’t done it yet. I’m heavier than I’d like to be – I’m desperate to lose the weight and get back to my best. 

‘If I did the jab, I’d probably lose the 4st in a month! I’d look unbelievable – everyone would want to work with me.’

Lauren said that while she ‘understands’ why everyone has reached for the jabs in a bid to lose weight quickly, she fears for what damage it could be doing.

Earlier this year, Lauren shared a throwback snap as she expressed her desire to get back her bikini body.

Lauren used an old image of herself as inspiration to get back to her former look, captioning the snap: ‘To be like this again.’
