Their split comes three years after Butler was accused of sexual misconduct in a bombshell report published by Pitchfork in August 2022.
Four women, all using pseudonyms, were interviewed for the article.
They were between the ages of 18 and 23 when their interactions with Butler took place. He was between 36 and 39.
According to Pitchfork, their accounts were backed up by interviews with family members and a review of text and social media messages between Butler and the alleged victims.
At the time, Butler admitted to having affairs but denied any wrongdoing.
‘While these relationships were all consensual, I am very sorry to anyone who I have hurt with my behavior,’ Butler said in a statement to Pitchfork.

‘As I look to the future, I am continuing to learn from my mistakes and working hard to become a better person, someone my son can be proud of.’
‘I’m sorry I wasn’t more aware and tuned in to the effect I have on people – I f****d up, and while not an excuse, I will continue to look forward and heal what can be healed, and learn from past experiences.’
In a statement to the website, Butler attributed his infidelity to a period of depression in which he was self-medicating with alcohol. The frontman said that the depression was brought on in part after his wife suffered a miscarriage.
He went on to say that Chassagne was his ‘soulmate’ and he was ‘lucky and grateful to have her by my side.’
The rocker added that Chassagne ‘waited patiently watching me suffer and tried to help me as best as she could. I know it must have been so hard for her to watch the person she loved so lost.’
Chassagne stood by Butler during the controversy and issued a statement in his support.
She also called him her ‘soulmate’ and said she was standing by him because ‘I know he is a good man who cares about this world, our band, his fans, friends, and our family.’
‘I know what is in his heart, and I know he has never, and would never, touch a woman without her consent and I am certain he never did.’
