Colin Farrell recalled how he managed to infuriate his Minority Report castmate Tom Cruise on the set back in 2001 following a drunken night of debauchery for his 25th birthday.
‘I got up to all sorts of nonsense the night before,’ the 49-year-old Irishman said on The Late Show Tuesday.
‘And I remember getting into bed, and as soon as I turned off the light the phone rang and it was the driver, [who] said, “It’s 10 past 6 [am].” And I went, “Oh, s***!”‘
When assistant director David H. Venghaus Jr. urged him not to come on set in his unsober state, Colin ordered: ‘”Just get me six Pacifico Cervezas and a packet of 20 [Marlboro] Red.”‘
The studio audience erupted in laughter and Farrell cautioned: ‘Now, listen, it’s not cool because two years later I went to rehab, right? But it worked in the moment.’
The Oscar-nominated actor was referring to 2003, despite his only publicly-known rehab stints occurring in 2006 and 2018.

After downing ‘a couple of beers’ Colin reported to set and immediately experienced difficulty saying his character Danny Witwer’s line: ‘I’m sure you’ve all grasped the fundamental paradox of pre-crime methodology.’
‘I will never forget the line I had that I couldn’t get out,’ Farrell groaned.
‘We did 46 takes. Tom wasn’t very happy with me. Tom, who I love, was not very happy!’
