During this incredibly challenging time, I kindly ask for respect and understanding as our family comes together to support one another and honor his memory. Your thoughts, prayers and love mean the world to us as we navigate this devastating loss.’

On Instagram, Kalysha shared that she was ‘in shambles’ as she uploaded a message asking bloggers to refrain from breaking any further news about the incident prior to her publicly doing so.

‘I understand the blogs have a job to do,’ she began. ‘I just ask respectfully that you guys refrain from posting information until I do because word spreads fast to children and although my kids aren’t on social media, a lot of their friends are and a lot of their parents, all the parents, are and I don’t want my kids to find out at school before I can tell them.

‘So respectfully I just ask to please, blogs let me make the announcement before you do.’

The video was captioned: ‘I am in shambles please respect my family and my children at this time.’

At 7.54AM on Tuesday, she posted to X that she had just received the ‘wors[t] news of my life.’

‘God woke me up at 2:00am… I couldn’t sleep. I didn’t know why. Jesus Christ I just received the worse news of my life. Pray for me and my kids please,’ she tweeted.

That same day she posted to her Instagram Stories: ‘Pray for me and my babies (heart broken emoji).’

Champ was an entrepreneur who played football at North Dakota State University as a wide receiver, according to TMZ. According to KVRR, played in 2005 before being redshirted the following year and ultimately departing the team.

He is remembered by loved ones as a devoted father and friend, according to KHOU.

The deadly crash occurred shortly after midnight on October 28 at 6600 Katy Freeway in Houston, Texas.

In a press release, the Houston Police shared: ‘A silver BMW was traveling the wrong way, westbound in the eastbound lanes, on the freeway at the above address and struck a silver Tesla Cybertruck head on. The impact caused the BMW to catch fire and the Tesla to strike a blue Freightliner 18-wheeler.’

The male BMW driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. Champ was later pronounced deceased after he was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the 18-wheeler, a 66-year-old male, did not incur any injuries.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.

KHOU reports that an autopsy will be conducted to ‘determine if impairment played a role’ in the incident.

According to TMZ, Kalysha and Champ tied the knot in 2021 before splitting in 2023. An annulment was filed by Kalysa in 2024.

They welcomed daughter Amari in 2022. Kalysha also has daughter Khari Barbie Maxwell, nine, with her ex, rapper Fetty Wap.
