Pregnant Jesy Nelson issues new update from hospital amid month-long stay after Little Mix star underwent emergency surgery to save unborn twins

Jesy Nelson has issued a new update from her hospital room as she and her boyfriend Zion Foster continue to fight to save their unborn twins.

The pregnant Little Mix star, 34, has been in hospital since late March after being diagnosed with twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) – a rare condition that can put one or both babies at risk.

In March, she had to undergo an emergency procedure due to complications and has been advised to remain in hospital until she reaches a certain number of weeks in her pregnancy, as there are concerns she could go into early labour.

The Boyz hitmaker is seven months along into her pregnancy so far, with medics ideally wanting her to reach at least 32 weeks before the babies are born.

Despite not being able to leave the hospital, which Zion said is ‘driving them crazy’, Jesy is managing to keep up with her regular beauty treatments.

The singer took to her Instagram Story on Thursday to share that she’s had her lashes done from the room.

Jesy was glowing as she posted a stunning selfie and clip from her room to show off her glamorous new lashes.

She wrote: ‘So the lovely @lashesbyhols came and did my lashes yesterday and I can honestly say I’m obsessed.

‘She put brown lashes on me which I’ve never had before and switched up my shape a little and I absolutely love them, don’t think I’ll be going back to black now.’

It comes after Zion shared that he and Jesy are getting a bit home sick after weeks of being surrounded by the same four walls.

He told OK! Magazine: ‘The same four walls are driving us a bit crazy.’

Throughout the worrying ordeal, Zion admitted he and Jesy have ‘grown to understand each other on a deeper level’.

He added: ‘I think it’s at these times when you really, really know what love you have and what your relationship means. And I think for me and Jess, this has just taken it to a whole other level of us knowing we are literally made for each other.’

As Jesy continues to be monitored in hospital, the couple have tried to make it as much of a home as possible.

Zion said: ‘There’s a couch that turns into a bed that we pushed next to the hospital bed, so we’ve made our own double bed. And it’s like we’ve moved in. The nurses just said, “Oh, my God. It looks so nice in here. It looks so homely”.’

Jesy recently shared a gushing Instagram tribute from her hospital bed after boyfriend Zion Foster completed the London Marathon on Sunday.

The singer, who watched the marathon on TV from her private room, shared a snap of a beaming Zion as he crossed the finish line after just four weeks of training following the gruelling 26.2 mile run.

Revealing how she’d never be able to express how proud she was of him, Jesy said: ‘I honestly didn’t think I could love you any more than I already do @zionfoster but you have made me and our babies the proudest!!!!’

‘You had under 4 weeks to train for the London marathon and you have worked your absolute bum off to be able to cross that finish line today whilst raising money for an amazing cause @twinstrust and for our babies, words will never be enough to let you know how proud I am of you.

Before adding: ‘The most amazing human and daddy we love you baby you smashed the London Marathon!!!!’

While an exhausted Zion replied: ‘Can’t believe I actually completed it… LOVE YOU’

Ahead of the race Jesy said he was running ‘for our babies’ and the raise funds for the Twins Trust charity which supports parents of multiples as well as improving maternity care and research.

Sharing a photo from her hospital bed as she watched the BBC coverage of the Marathon, Jesy admitted she was feeling emotional.

‘I feel so emotional this morning knowing my baby is running the marathon for our babies and for @twinstrust. @zionfoster my heart feels so proud of you, you got this my angel’.

On Friday Zion and Jesy shared a video as he proudly showed off his Marathon shirt and asked fans for ‘a final donations push’.

Jesy looked teary as she told her boyfriend she had ‘no doubt’ he would complete the 26 mile course and reminded him ‘you’re doing this for these little babies and all the families that are going through it and all the people that have gone through all the stuff we’ve been through and worse.’

Jesy and her partner Zion revealed to fans in a video that she’d been diagnosed with TTTS in March.

WHAT IS TWIN-TWIN TRANSFUSION SYNDROME?

Twin-twin transfusion syndrome is a rare but serious condition that can occur in identical pregnancies when twins share a placenta.

Abnormal blood vessel connections form in the placenta and prevent blood from flowing evenly between the babies.

One twin then becomes dehydrated, which affects its growth.

The other develops high blood pressure and produces too much urine.

This leads to an enlarged bladder and excessive amounts of amniotic fluid, which can put a strain on the twin’s heart, leading to heart failure.

Without treatment, TTTS can be fatal for both twins.

The condition occurs in about around 15 per cent of identical twins who share a placenta, according to the charity Twins Trust.

Around 300 twins die from the condition every year in the UK, while 6,000 babies are affected annually in the US.

Draining excess amniotic fluid can help to improve blood flow.

If this is not enough, laser surgery is used to seal shut abnormal blood vessels and permanently disconnect them.

The surgeon then drains excess fluid.

Even when treated successfully, most TTTS babies are born premature.

However, the majority go on to have long, healthy lives.
