Inside Rebel Wilson’s Booming Property Empire: From Sydney Mansion to West Hollywood Retreat

Rebel Wilson knows all about racking up the cash at the movie box office, with fan favourites like Bridesmaids and Pitch Perfect on her long list of hits.

And behind the scenes, the Australian-born Hollywood star has shown plenty of sparkle when it comes to playing the real estate market.

The 45-year-old, who currently divides her time between Los Angeles and London, has quietly been selling off an extensive international property portfolio worth over $20 million that she has amassed over a decade.

Rebel currently lives with her partner, Romana Arguma, and their two-year-old daughter, Lillian, in a four-bedroom home in the Hollywood Hills she bought for AU$3.4 million in 2014.

She moved her family into the charming home after deciding to cut ties with a grand West Hollywood getaway she bought in 2016 for $4.17 million (US$2.95 million).

Dubbed by the A Few Best Men star as a ‘Home Office’, the two-storey spread, built in 2015, features a saltwater pool, gym, outdoor fireplace and a hot tub.

Listed in 2024 for AU$6.24 million ($US4.15 million), the sale was finally settled for an impressive $5.6 million in a LA market impacted by depressed property prices.

Back in her old hometown of Sydney, Rebel recently sealed the deal to offload an investment property in the harbourside suburb of Balmain.

Sold for an undisclosed sum only last month, the two-bedroom, two-bathroom Balmain flat had been something of a millstone for the star.

Originally scheduled for auction in 2024 for $3.3 million, it sat on the listings unloved for a month until Rebel pulled it off the market.

Later, Realestate.com reported that an agent advised Rebel to knock down the price to $2.2million. Instead, the Bachelorette actress rented it out for $1,200 a week.

She then ditched her old agent and enlisted none other than Anna Wilson, the Hollywood star’s younger sister, who successfully mounted a new sales campaign with a listing of $2 million.

Tucked away in the heritage-listed Lever Brothers soap factory, Rebel purchased the two-bedroom pad off the plan back in 2018 for $1.8million.

The apartment also features engineered oak floorboards throughout, ducted air conditioning, and custom joinery.

It’s understood that Rebel lived in the chic digs while she renovated a beautiful waterside property in nearby Birchgrove.

Bought in 2015 for $3.76 million, Rebel sought out architect Paul O’Connor to renovate the multi-level three-bedroom home.

The new-look luxury pad sent buyers’ pulses racing with the home going under the hammer for a staggering $9.5 million in 2022 – netting Rebel a nothing-to-sniff-at profit of $5.74 million.

The property was previously owned by the author Peter Carey, who sold it for less than a million dollars in the early ’90s when he moved to New York.

Built overlooking the Parramatta River, the home boasts stunning water views and has its own jetty and moorings.

Other features include an outdoor pool overlooking the river, a marble kitchen, and an internal elevator.

Around the time of the Birchgrove sale, Rebel relocated to the UK and revealed to The Sun in March 2022 that she had purchased a new home in London.

Few details of her ‘swanky’ bolthole there have emerged since, but the blonde actress did show fans a glimpse inside the property in a video shared to social media in April 2024.

Meanwhile, Rebel, according to Realestate.com, has not completely fallen out of love with the Balmain area, which has strong ties to her family.

Via her company, Camp Sugar, the publication reports the Fat Pizza star purchased a four-bedroom house in Birchgrove for $3.6 million in 2022.

The star is also a practised landlord, purchasing a rental property off the plan through her company in Sydney’s Gladesville in 2015 for $740,000 and selling it in 2020 for $805,000.

In 2017, she paid $885,000 for a second rental, which she also offloaded in 2022 for reportedly more than $880,000.

Known as 433 Greenwich, the apartment block also boasts a gigantic landscaped roof terrace, an underground car park, a climate-controlled wine cellar, and a 20-metre indoor pool.

To add to the glamour, Rebel’s neighbours in the sought-after precinct include actors Ryan Reynolds and Jennifer Lawrence.
