Kimberly said: ‘It’s [Cancer] happened all my life. My dad is losing the fight against lung cancer right now.

‘You feel heavy, you feel hopeless. If walking a wire can make a difference at all, I’m willing to go out and do it.’

And of walking the high-wire, she added: ”Even in the first experience, it took out fears in me I didn’t know were there. Having the mental capability to do jump off a bridge.’

Love Islander Chris Hughes appeared alongside Kimberly in the Lorraine segment, as he is also taking part in Don’t Look Down.

The reality star said: ‘I had a live testicular examination. My cousin had testicular cancer initially, so I went on This Morning and then my brother went to get checked the day after and was diagnosed.

‘He says he would never have got checked if he hadn’t seen me do it.’

Chris said of the high-wire challenge: ‘You’re not meant to learn it in 3 weeks. Our instructor said it takes people months. I knew I had a phobia of heights, but I’d only been up a ladder and scaffolding.

‘I think my body – the fear just swamped me and I can’t help but cry. It gives you a push and reminder why you’re doing it. So when I’m bawling my eyes out you know you’re doing this to raise money.’
