Selena Gomez has revealed she feels ‘sad’ to read so many comments about her weight and claimed the same scrutiny isn’t applied to men.
The pop star and actress, 32, said that while she tries not to look at nasty posts on social media, she’s ‘human’ and ‘sometimes I read things’.
Selena insisted she ‘will never’ look like a model and put fluctuations in her size down to the medication she takes for her chronic autoimmune disorder lupus.
She made the candid comments during an appearance on the On Purpose with Jay Shetty podcast alongside her fiance Benny Blanco.
The Emilia Perez star explained on Monday: ‘It’s the character [she’s playing] that gets judged: It’s the way I’m not white enough, I’m not Mexican enough … nobody cares about those kind of things with men.
‘My weight’s a big one too. Everyone just has something to say and it’s really making me sad and – not even sad ’cause, I’m not a victim, everyone – I just think it’s made me a tad bitter and I feel really guilty for saying that but it’s true.’

The Lose You To Love Me hitmaker added: ‘This isn’t news to anybody that obviously women have a lot more intense feelings about their appearance …
‘When I get prepared for an event, 90 per cent of the time I’m just like: “I just hope I can take the picture and sit down”.
‘[I try not to look at comments but] so many different things that come up in my face, that I can’t help but see … I fall victim to looking at things.’
Selena explained she has taken all her social media apps off her phone, but she still sees nasty comments.
She said: ‘I’m human and sometimes I read things. But I do, most of the time, ignore everything. I don’t have anything on my phone at that moment. So, there are ways to combat it.
‘I’m not in, like: “I hate it”. I understand the power of what social media is. It’s just tricky.’
She added of dealing with issues linked to her medication: ‘I would rather be healthy and take care of myself. My medications are important, and I believe that they’re what helps me.
‘Not a model, never will be. And I think they’re awesome, mind you. I’m just definitely not that.’

Selena recently shared a gushing post about the process of making I Said I Love You First with her Benny.
She shared two images on Instagram for the release of I Said I Love You First – Explained: Narrated by Selena Gomez.
‘Benny and I made so many amazing memories throughout the process of creating our new album. I wanted to let you guys in on some of those stories and the making of these songs,’ her caption began.
‘I Said I Love You First – Explained: Narrated by Selena Gomez is available for digital download on my official store now!’
I Said I Love You First is Gomez’s first full-length release since 2020’s Rare, and it finds her fully re-energised by music.
The album is an autobiographical affair that chronicles the pair’s ‘love story’ – ‘before they met, falling in love and looking to what the future holds.’

The 14-track project sees the Emilia Perez star, 32, and the hit-making producer, 37, dial up the passion, kicking things off with Cowboy—a sultry anthem about their fiery love life.
‘You want me to act like the bad girls put you on your knees, kiss me like we’re meant for each other,’ Gomez seductively croons, before whispering, ‘Put your hands on me, ride it like a cowboy.’
She keeps the sensual energy flowing on Bluest Flame, teasing, ‘I just wanna go all night, I just wanna go insane.’
And the steam doesn’t stop there.
On Sunset Blvd, Gomez playfully flirts with Blanco, singing about wanting to hold his ‘big, big, hard … heart.’
