Channel Ten Star Resigns After 15 Years, Announces Career Change

Channel Ten veteran reporter Lachlan Kennedy has announced his resignation, after 15 years with the network.

The Sydney-based reporter has accepted a position as an advisor for the NSW government, reports TV Tonight.

The 10 News team were informed of Kennedy’s plans earlier this month.

Kennedy has worked as a newsreader, US correspondent and local government reporter during his time at Ten.

His time with the network has been marked by ups and downs.

In July 2024, he made headlines after he labelled a rogue Wikipedia entry about himself ‘completely false’.

Daily Mail revealed that a shocking claim was published about Kennedy on his public profile on the online encyclopedia – which anyone can edit.

‘Lachlan Kennedy is an Australian journalist and news presenter,’ the Wikipedia entry began. ‘He is best known for…’

The rest of the entry cannot be published for legal reasons, with a Ten spokesperson slamming the unpublishable claim as ‘inaccurate’ and ‘untrue’ and it is not suggested otherwise.

The rogue edit came as Kennedy split with his wife, naturopath Cassie Davenport.

He was later romantically linked to newly minted Channel Nine federal political reporter Liz Daniels.

Kennedy previously told Daily Mail the edit was ‘horrendous’ and condemned the alleged lie.

‘This is a private matter. Cassie and I love our children deeply and we are committed to raising them together,’ Kennedy told Confidential.

‘We chose to keep our separation private, so we could work on being the best parents we can be moving forward.

‘The details in the Wikipedia hack are completely false, malicious.’

The controversial paragraph was first added to Wikipedia on Saturday, July 13 at 2.22pm by an anonymous editor.

Moments later the controversial paragraph was removed by another user who said ‘you would need evidence that he is best known for this’.

The defamatory message was then added a second time, before being deleted once more.

A Network Ten spokesperson said: ‘We have been informed that the assertions contained in the screenshot of the Wikipedia post are inaccurate and untrue.’

In a statement to Daily Mail, Davenport said: ‘Lachlan and I are separated. We love and adore our children and we are very much devoted to co–parenting together.

‘Lachlan is a great father to our boys. As far as I am aware, the details written and distributed in the Wiki page as false.’

Following the incident, the father–of–two Kennedy shut down most of his social media pages.

The pair wed in 2022 and are proud parents to two young children.

Kennedy joined Network 10 as a reporter in 2010 and in June 2022 he was named as one of the presenters of the network’s new national news bulletin.
