It’s over! It comes after Les Dennis and partner Nancy Xu were the first couple to be eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing 2023
Les Dennis and partner Nancy Xu were the first couple to be eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing 2023.
The pair went head-to-head with Nikita Kanda and Gorka Márquez in the dance-off, before the judges decided which pair they would like to save with the other couple sadly being eliminated.
During Saturday’s show both celebrities found themselves finishing at the bottom of the leaderboard, Les with just 15 points for his Samba while Nikita scored 18 for her Charleston.
While Les and his dance partner Nancy tried to impress the judges and remain in the competition with their Samba to Rock The Boat by Hues Corporation.
Unfortunately for Les, it was not enough as the judges, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and head judge Shirley Ballas all voted to save Nikita and Gorka.
Speaking to host Tess Daly about their time on the show and his partnership with Nancy, Les said: ‘I’ve had the best time, this lady has been amazing, a great teacher, she’s really put me through my paces. I did as well as I could for you, I hope!
‘That lot up there, I’m going to miss you so much. I really appreciate and understand the judge’s point of view, thank you so much (To Shirley) for giving me a 10 for entertainment.
‘I hope I’ve entertained, that’s what I came here for. Strictly is the best and the people who put this on, you’re just all amazing!’
Tess went on to ask Nancy how teaching Les was, she said: ‘It’s been a journey. This is such a short but a sweet journey.
‘A lot of challenges we all know, but to see you (to Les) every day improve yourself. I respect you so, so much.
‘I just want to say thank you to the judges and all my fellow friends. Thank you Strictly Come Dancing for all of your support. Thank you Les.’
