Earlier this summer Naomi Campbell launched her first collaboration with online fashion brand PrettyLittleThing.
The campaign generated huge speculation causing the supermodel to hit back at critics as she insisted ‘fashion shouldn’t discriminate.’
PrettyLittleThing have now given MailOnline an exclusive look behind the campaign as the team pulled out all the stops to create the ‘biggest and best event PLT has ever put together’ in time for New York Fashion Week.
Letting viewers into the creative process, it was all hands on deck as the models, designers, technicians, PR team and of course Naomi readied themselves for the iconic show.
The team at PLT landed in New York just 36 hours before the show was scheduled to kick off and getting it ready was no easy feet.

Huge effort: Letting viewers into the creative process, it was all hands on deck as the models, designers, technicians, PR team and of course Naomi readied themselves for the iconic show
The set was extensive, with the team tasked with setting up all the lights, a full sound system a 4000 square foot marble deck a 40ft marble wall adorned with a 25 ft LED sign as well as everything else backstage.
As the team scurried around, Nicki Capstick, the brand’s Chief Marketting Officer stated: ‘This show at New York Fashion Week is the biggest and best event that PLT has ever put together.’
Discussing working with Naomi, she said: ‘Working with Naomi Campbell has been hugely collaborative. She’s wanted to be involved in every single detail of the entire process from the intricate designs of the product all the way up to the model line up during the cat walk.’
Naomi put forward all the models for the show and can be seen fixing their hair and adjusting their final looks before their big moment on the runway.
Inspiring her team, she tells one of the models: ‘You’re the first girl, you’re leading everybody so you have got to come out with strength.’
It is every model’s dream to work with the 53-year-old, as one model confessed: ‘It’s an honour to be working with Naomi Campbell, this is really a big thing for me.’
As the models file out Naomi wished the team well as she cried: ‘Have a great show everyone!’
But it isn’t just the models that need organising, the documentary also saw the PR team who are tasked with the huge chore of the carefully calculated seating plan.

There was a huge amount of pressure riding on this campaign and the PR team have to ensure the right celebrities and influencers are sat together in order to get the best ‘money shots’ throughout the show.
Global Head of PR and Talent Amy Simons said: ‘From a press perspective we need to make sure the right people are getting photographed. It’s probably the most stressful part of the show’.
With cameras everywhere, full YouTube coverage of the show, a camera car dolly on the runway and red carpet interviews hosted by influencer Abby Bafoe it was a full on evening.
And despite arriving in New York ‘tired and jetlagged’, Naomi blew the crowd away as she stunned on the catwalk.
Following a parade of stylish and daring looks from the collection, Naomi emerged in a dazzling sparkling party dress.
The long black number adorned with silver gems showcased Naomi’s incredible figure as she left little to the imagination through the sheer material.

As the after show partying commenced, Naomi laughed: ‘I’m very happy’ sounding slightly overwhelmed she continued, ‘I can’t believe its happened it just went so quick.’
The star also opened up about why she felt it was so important to collaborate with PLT on this campaign.
‘I’m really happy that I got to be with Edvin and Victor which for me is like, this is what it’s about you have to pass it on and you have to share your platform and you have to help.
‘I am about helping my own right now. That’s just my mission and I am going to stick to what I’ve been doing, my narrative hasn’t changed.’
Meanwhile hosts of stars including Emily Ratajkowski, Leni Klum, Jake Paul, and Molly-Mae Hague attended the event.

Reflecting on the show Jake Paull said: ‘It was cool man, it was my first fashion show… It was iconic when she walked out, that was dope, she lit the room up.’
The brand’s former CEO Umar Kamani was also in attendance and couldn’t have looked happier: ‘It was amazing. It’s the pinnacle of everything we have built up over the last 12 years with the brand.
‘To watch that come to life, I can retire now, peacefully!’
The collaboration was two years in the making and sees the brand create a more premium style.
