Jessica Simpson is re-entering the beauty business.
This week the 45-year-old mogul released her first fragrance, Mystic Canyon, in five years. It smells like vanilla and orchids.
When Simpson first launched a fragrance in 2008 — Jessica Simpson Fancy — it made $6.5 million in eight weeks.
She is hoping to get to that level again with Mystic Canyon, which sells for $35 for 30mL and $60 for 100mL at JC Penney and her own website.
And the country singer might be able to turn Mystic Canyon into a best-seller as she has about 10 million followers across social media platforms; her TikTok videos garner an average of 100,000 views, with some reaching millions.
Her competition is Kylie Jenner, who now makes fragrances, as well as Ariana Grande.
This comes three years after Simpson saved her eponymous fashion and beauty brand from bankruptcy.

But she has a successful background: her Jessica Simpson Collection which sells shoes, handbags and clothing, is a mega player in the style arena.
‘I’m a preacher’s daughter. My dad made $30,000 a year. I know what it’s like to go to discount stores and really search for something great. I knew if we made those great things for people, we would succeed,’ she told Business Of Fashion this week.
Simpson hopes to make affordable beauty products for the ‘everywoman.’
Mystic Canyon is her first new scent since 2020.
And there is a vibe to her fragrance: ‘People say to me, “You’re country.” But it’s not country music; it’s not country style or perfume. It’s Americana. It’s classic and it’s not one region. I’m making this fragrance line for all of us,’ she said.
It just fits: ‘It gives off a romantic, grounded feeling that gets you noticed a little, but not in an overpowering way,’ she shared.
The formula could smell success: ‘I’m going back to what works for me. This smells the way my emotions feel right now. That is always how my greatest successes have happened.’
Simpson also told the outlet that the bumps in the road are just a part of the path that is making her a billionaire.
‘I love being the underdog,’ she said. ‘I love being the little engine, because I don’t lose endurance and I haven’t gotten to the top.’

This comes after she said she never imagined being ‘single again as a mom of three’. The 45-year-old star announced her separation from Eric Johnson in January, after ten years of marriage, and Jessica now admits that she never imagined being single at this stage of her life
She paused then said: ‘Yet. Because the reality is, I would not have a business if I’d gotten everything I wanted as a celebrity.’
In her promo pictures on Instagram she has on a gunmetal gray sequin gown with cut outs. ‘Mystic Canyon came to life while I was making Nashville Canyon and is inspired by the woman I am today. Mystic Canyon is available exclusively at JCPenney and jessicasimpson.com,’ she wrote in the caption.
Parlux, the manufacturer behind celebrity scents for Billie Eilish and Drake as well Simpson’s previous line, is producing the range.

The chart-topping singer – who has Maxi, 13, Ace, 12, and Birdie, six, with Eric – told People: ‘I feel like we get caught up in numbers. Like, Oh, at 45, would I think that I would be single again as a mom of three? Absolutely not. That was not how I planned it. But it’s just a part of what destiny holds for me.’

She has also released a lingerie line this year
Jessica claims that her new fragrance, Mystic Canyon, actually reflects the journey of ‘self discovery’ that she’s been on.
She explained: ‘This time in my life, I was meant to be independent in my self-discovery without anybody else’s critiques, judgements or opinions.
‘It was really about coming home to myself, being proud of that person, coming from a place of being just very honest and very vulnerable, and putting that into melodic form, but also using it in the brand. It has been really empowering.’
Meanwhile, Jessica revealed in July that she was ready to start dating again.
The singer was asked by Today show co-host Jenna Bush-Hager: ‘Are you interested in dating? Can I set you up with anybody?’ Jessica replied: ‘I’d totally jump on that. Yes I’m single – very into like, very … I’m ready!’
Jenna subsequently questioned: ‘What are you into so I can set my criteria?’ And Jessica then explained: ‘My type of person is one of a kind. I don’t have a look, or anything. I just like for somebody to be individually, who they are. And exude confidence without the ego.
‘It’s hard to find but I feel like it’s out there. I don’t need somebody to be supportive of me all the time. I feel like the independence that I have right now, if I can have that and give it to someone else, that’d be cool.’
