Adrien Brody reveals Georgina Chapman and Harvey Weinstein’s children now call him ‘popsie’

Adrien Brody delivered an emotional Oscars acceptance speech that included an unexpected shout-out to girlfriend Georgina Chapman’s two children.

Chapman shares daughter, India, 15, and son Dashiell, 13, with disgraced Hollywood film producer Harvey Weinstein, who is serving a lengthy prison sentence after being convicted of rape and sexual assault in 2020.

She divorced Weinstein in 2017 shortly after his horrific crimes against women in Hollywood were exposed in a bombshell exposé.

Brody began dating Chapman six years ago and his recent awards sweep for The Brutalist has thrust her back into the spotlight.

And as he picked up his second Best Actor win on Sunday night, Brody provided rare insight into their relationship — specifically his close bond with Chapman and Weinstein’s children.

As he choked back tears, the actor revealed that India and Dashiell now fondly refer to him as ‘popsie.’

He first spoke of Georgina and her children after thanking his fellow nominees and others involved in the making of The Brutalist as he accepted the honor from Oppenheimer star Cillian Murphy.

‘I share this with my amazing partner, Georgina, who has not only reinvigorated my own self-worth, but my sense of value and my values,’ he gushed.

He then referred to India and Dashiell as ‘our children’ as he thanked the teens — who were not at the ceremony — for ‘accepting’ him into their lives after their father’s public downfall.

‘And our beautiful children, Dash and India. I know this is — it’s been a roller coaster, but thank you for accepting me into your life.

‘And popsie is coming home a winner,’ he said, while raising his statue.

The remark earned a warm chuckle from the audience before Brody went on to thank his team and his parents, who joined him and Chapman at the Academy Awards.

This isn’t the first time that Brody has used his platform praise Georgina’s ‘resilience.’

After winning the Golden Globe for The Brutalist in January, the star thanked her for standing by him and for being an ‘amazing partner.’

‘To my beautiful and amazing partner Georgina, your generosity of spirit, your own resilience, your immense creativity are a daily reminder of how to be,’ Brody said at the time, visibly emotional. 

‘I would not be standing here before you if it wasn’t for you. There was a time not too long ago that I felt this may never be a moment afforded to me again, so thank you.’ 

Brody and Chapman first became romantically linked in 2019, marking her first relationship since her 2017 divorce from Weinstein, which was finalized in 2021.

Weinstein’s decades-long reign of terror over women in Hollywood was revealed by The New York Times in October 2017 and Chapman, the British fashion designer and co-founder of the label Marchesa, left him soon after.

Chapman publicly announced their separation in a statement, saying she was ‘heartbroken’ by the accusations, but it was clear she wanted to distance herself from the scandal.

Weinstein, convicted of rape and sexual assault in 2020, was sentenced to 23 years in prison. He later received an additional 16-year sentence for further charges in California, bringing his total prison term to 39 years.

Chapman previously told Vogue in 2018 that she was left ‘humiliated and so broken’ by the Weinstein scandal. In regards to his crimes, she claimed to have been ‘terribly naive.’

She has largely kept a low profile since then but has found new recognition as Brody’s arm candy amid his 2025 award run for The Brutalist.
