As the dust settles on Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s divorce filing in Nashville, an insider has revealed the extent to which the country singer blindsided her.
Kidman and Urban had been experiencing marital difficulties but were ‘getting it back together’ when he floored her with the decision that it was all over, according to a source who has known the Australian actress for decades.
But even now, weeks after she filed for divorce, the Eyes Wide Shut star, 58, would be willing to patch things up – so long as Keith hasn’t already moved on.
‘She would get back with him in a heartbeat,’ said the confidante.
Those within Nicole’s inner circle believe that by the time TMZ broke news of the couple’s separation on September 30, Keith was ‘done’ with the marriage.
At the time, reports indicated Nicole was ‘blindsided’ by the break-up. However, it was the Oscar-winner who was the one to file divorce papers, citing ‘irreconcilable differences’.

Now, our source maintains that Nicole was caught off-guard – as she had believed right up until the news broke that she and Keith were working through their issues.
Behind the scenes, the leading actress is privately devastated.
And as unconfirmed rumours swirl around Nashville that Keith may be dating again after his separation, Nicole’s loved ones are now anticipating that they might soon see a new, younger woman on his arm.
‘That would be a worst-case scenario for her.’
When reports of a split first emerged, multiple sources claimed Nicole and Keith had been living apart for several months.
They were married for 19 years and have two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.
Nicole also has two adult children adopted during her first marriage to actor Tom Cruise, Isabella and Connor, now aged in their 30s.
Days after the separation was announced, Nicole was seen being comforted by her younger sister Antonia in Nashville – the city where her family owns a home and where the divorce papers were filed.
The rumour mill has linked Keith to 25-year-old country star Maggie Baugh as well as singer Kelsea Ballerini, 32. However, insiders insist those friendships are strictly professional – and in the case of Maggie, the gossip seems to be off the mark because she already has a boyfriend
Per reports, Nicole and Keith’s daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14 will spend 306 days a year with their mother and 59 days with their father. (The Urban-Kidman family, including Nicole’s sister Antonia and niece Sybella, are pictured in Hollywood in April 2024)
According to the filing, the actress requested to be designated as the primary residential parent.

Sources previously told the Daily Mail that Keith – one of the biggest stars in country music – has moved on with an unnamed female musician.
The Nashville rumour mill has linked him to 25-year-old country star Maggie Baugh as well as singer Kelsea Ballerini, 32.
However, other insiders insist those friendships are strictly professional – and in the case of Maggie, the gossip definitely seems to be off the mark because she already has a boyfriend, Cameron Coley.
