It still isn’t confirmed who will be stepping into Daniel Craig’s shoes to play the next James Bond.
And now it has been revealed fans may have to wait as long as three years for the franchise’s next installment amid ongoing legal issues.
The last 007 movie, No Time to Die, was released in 2021 and according to the film’s former director Martin Campbell it could be 2028 before it is back on the big screen.
Martin, who directed both Casino Royale and GoldenEye, told The Mirror: ‘I think it’ll be two years away, three years away.’
He said: ‘Is there going to be another Bond? That’s the question. There’s this legal thing right now. And they have this problem with Amazon. It’s sort of the same thing.’
In December it was reported that the new film had been put on hold amid an ongoing feud between Amazon and the producer of the 007 series.

The streaming giant, who owns MGM – the film studio that makes Bond films – has come to blows with Barbara Broccoli, the daughter of original Bond producer Albert R. Broccoli, and her half brother.
Broccoli, 64, reportedly told friends that the people at Amazon are ‘f*****g idiots’ and complained that its streaming service Prime Video is not a great fit for the super-spy, according to the Wall Street Journal.
However Martin insisted that the new bond will be in cinemas before streaming and confirmed there will be no TV series spin-off.
He said: ‘Barbara will absolutely stick to her guns and say this is a theatrical experience. This is not going to go to streaming immediately. Bond is always an event picture.’
Rumours have been swirling for months over who will be the next 007, and Martin teased that Taz Skylar the star of his latest action flick Cleaner, has a chance of playing 007.
Meanwhile Stuart Martin unknowingly catapulted himself into the ring as a possible replacement for Daniel Craig earlier this month.
Relatively lesser-known compared to other contenders for the coveted role, the 38-year-old Scottish actor is said to have impressed bosses with his last decade of work.
The strapping 6ft 2in star has reportedly been involved in tentative ‘under the radar’ talks with Eon Productions, who make the beloved spy movies, with insiders claiming he could be in ‘serious contention’ to play the 007 agent.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson was said to have completed a screen test at Pinewood Studios with Barbara Broccoli in March 2022
If chosen, he would be the first Scot since original star Sean Connery to take on the British secret agent.
The late actor made his debut in Dr. No in 1962, with his accent prompting Ian Fleming to write Scottish heritage into Bond’s past.
‘Stuart is the name that has been discussed in Bond circles by those in the know,’ said an LA movie consultant who has worked with the Bond franchise.
‘He is in serious contention. No-one will confirm this because Eon goes all out to deny and shy away from anything concerning casting, but it would be an amazing milestone to have a Scottish Bond again.’
The source added that there is still ‘hurdles to jump through’ including multiple meetings with Eon so they can ‘get a feel for his personality’.
They continued: ‘And let’s not forget, Eon doesn’t give a damn whether the man who lands the job is famous or not. It is about getting the man they want and who they feel is best suited for this life changing experience.
‘It is more pressure, scrutiny and stress than any other movie role.’
