Alan Carr’s ex-husband Paul Drayton has claimed the star has a ‘ruthless streak’ and that he is ‘very different’ behind closed doors.
The comedian, 49, split from Paul, 54, back in 2022 after 13 years together and three years of marriage.
They never revealed the real reason for their split, but maintained that it was a ‘mutual’ and amicable choice to go their separate ways.
As viewers tune in to watch Alan on Celebrity Traitors, Paul has offered new insight into the man behind the charming on-screen persona.
In a new interview, Paul claimed Alan can be ‘a very different person’ once the cameras stop rolling and that his much-talked-about friendship with Paloma Faith has been exaggerated for drama, insisting: ‘They’re not good mates.’
He told The Sun: ‘The person I would see at home was very different to the Alan you see on TV – and he does have a ruthless streak.

‘He will only take so much and then he will say, ‘You’re taking the p*ss, I don’t want anything more to do with you’.
‘He was tolerant most of the time when we were together, but if he felt someone was taking advantage of him, he would cut them out of his life.’
Paul made it clear he wasn’t taking a swipe at his former husband, of whom he has managed to stay on good terms with.
Daily Mail has contacted Alan’s representative for comment.
Paloma, 44, was the first to leave the BBC castle earlier this month when Alan struck her down with a poisoned lily in the first killing of the BBC One series.
Since then, the singer has been vocal about her disappointment at being first out, even hitting out at comedian Alan saying ‘if the shoe was on the other foot, she wouldn’t have done’ what he’d done to her.
She hit out on the Uncloaked podcast: ‘Categorically, he had a choice – maybe it was the easiest option, but it was the choice he made and I don’t think it was very nice.’
Alan then poked fun at ‘murdering’ Paloma in a tongue-in-cheek moment after the dramatic Celebrity Traitors twist stunned viewers.

The comedian ‘killed off’ the singer during the second episode of the hit BBC reality show, leaving viewers in hysterics over his sneaky move.
In a clip shared on social media, his friend asked: ‘What kind of cocktail do you feel like, Alan?’
Grinning at the camera, he quipped: ‘Oh, I don’t know – I could murder a Paloma.’
Taking things one step further to prove that there is no bad blood between the long serving pals, Alan captioned the video: ‘Anyone thirsty? love you @palomafaith #forgiveme.’
Paloma shared her own cheeky response in the comments, writing: ‘Mines too salty.’
Fans – including host Claudia Winkleman – were also quick to share their amusement with laughing emojis, calling Alan a ‘national treasure’ for making light of the betrayal.

However, some people felt the joke was ‘too soon’, ‘savage’ and ‘cruel.’
Following the fiery reaction, sources have insisted that tension between the pair is all for show.
A source told The Sun: ‘Paloma’s sad to be out first from Celebrity Traitors but is keen to carry on the game.
‘She’s been making digs at Alan on social media to keep up the pretence that she’s still a Faithful at war with a Traitor, but of course, the pair are still incredibly firm friends.
‘Both of them have been in the business long enough to know not to take anything in showbiz seriously.’
The source also revealed the pals are already planning a catch-up for a full Traitors debrief.
