Married At First Sight’s Dave Thomas shares controversial views on Tim Gromie after he sensationally rejected Katie Johnstone

MAFS groom Tim Gromie shocked viewers when he brutally rejected Katie at their wedding, pulling producers aside and telling them she wasn’t what he wanted.

And now groom Dave Thomas has revealed what he really thinks of the controversial groom, after they shared a brief encounter  at the show’s bucks’ party.

Reflecting on the situation, Dave, 36, admitted his perspective on Tim had changed dramatically after watching his wedding.

‘At the bucks party I really liked him,’ Dave told Daily Mail Australia.

‘He said something about how he couldn’t be himself in a relationship, and I said, “If you can’t be yourself, who you gonna be?”

‘Watchin the wedding was pretty rough,’ he continued.

And now groom Dave Thomas (pictured) has revealed what he really thinks of the controversial groom, after they shared a brief encounter at the show’s bucks’ party.

As tensions mount in the experiment, all eyes are now on the upcoming dinner party, where Jamie Marinos is set to take Tim to task over his behaviour.

‘Jamie is someone I protect, and I’ve said that in my vows—that I would protect her and have her back throughout. And I am,’ Dave explained.

‘I’m super proud of myself for doing that. Everything will unfold, and I can’t wait for it.’

With Jamie’s fiery nature and Dave’s unwavering support, the next dinner party is shaping up to be one of the most dramatic yet.

Fellow groom Adrian Araouzou was also quick to defend Tim following surrounding backlash. 

‘Listen, me personally, I obviously know it’s just a TV show. I don’t think he deserves so much [backlash] because at the end of the day he is a real person with real feelings.’ 

However, he also added: ‘Sometimes you dig your own hole, and you gotta lay in it. Maybe this is the universe teaching him a lesson.’

Tim and Katie’s wedding on Tuesday night has been described as a ‘trainwreck’, after he made it clear within moments of seeing the redhead, 37, at the altar that she was not what he was hoping for.

‘At the bucks party I really liked him,’ Dave told Daily Mail Australia. ‘He said something about how he couldn’t be himself in a relationship, and I said, “If you can’t be yourself, who you gonna be?” 

Despite Katie’s warm smile and effort to break the ice with a hug, Tim recoiled, leaving her visibly awkward and confused. 

Behind-the-scenes, Tim pulled a producer aside during their wedding reception to vent his frustrations.

‘Totally not what I wanted. Not good,’ Tim declared bluntly.

‘I normally go for short, petite, blonde or brunette. Katie’s nothing like what I usually go for. There’s just no attraction. I can tell straight away.’ 

Tim continued to lament his lack of connection, stating he felt ‘shattered’ and ’embarrassed’ by the match.

‘I feel like I’ve wasted my time. I just want to run away,’ he admitted.
