The View got dangerously close to losing viewers on Friday after Nancy Pelosi’s daughter Alexandra started ‘yelling’ and telling stories of people defecating in the Capitol during an energetic appearance on the show.
Alexandra, 53, promised to be on her ‘best behavior’ – but left viewers baffled by her ‘loud’ and ‘manic’ demeanor as she discussed her new HBO documentary about the January 6 attack on the United States Capitol.
‘It’s feel good Friday so I’ll try to be on my best behavior and try not to get myself canceled,’ she declared, before swiftly describing the Republican conference as ‘a bunch of brats’ and accusing certain politicians of having ‘zero experience’.
Speaking about her new film, The Insurrectionist Next Door, Alexandra revealed what it was like going on the road and meeting some of the people who are now in jail for storming the U.S. Capitol in 2021.
Referring to the fact that Republicans have argued that the people involved ‘were just tourists’, she claimed: ‘People were accused of literally pooping in the United States Capitol. That actually happened, I saw it with my own two eyes!’

Alexandra’s interview kicked off with a discussion about the current political landscape, with Joy Behar, 81, announcing: ‘The current chaos in the house of representatives would never have happened on Nancy Pelosi’s watch, in my opinion.’
Turning to Alexandra, the comedian continued: ‘Your mother would have figured out what to do if she were in the Republican party. She would not have allowed this chaos to continue.’
‘I think that the reason the house is a mess is because the country is a mess. I think we’re all so divided,’ Alexandra replied, before adding: ‘I’ll say this in love… we have some responsibility, all of us.
The Republican party is in a state of paralysis after Steve Scalise sensationally dropped out of the race to become House speaker on Thursday.
Scalise failed to get enough support from within his own party to replace Kevin McCarthy, who was spectacularly ousted from the role last week.
Alexandra went on to discuss Democratic Senator Bob Menendez, who has been indicted for trying to act as an agent of the Egyptian government after allegedly trying to use his position to protect and benefit his business associates and the Arab Republic of Egypt.
Alexandra asked: ‘The state of New Jersey elected Bob Menendez… does anybody in this room think that Bob Menendez is the best representative?’
Acknowledging Ana Navarro, 51, she continued: ‘I’m sorry, I know he’s your friend and has done good things for…
‘But the point is, come on! We can do better than that! The people elected these people to represent them!’
Joy responded: ‘Yeah but we’ve always had losers and your mother seemed to be able to herd her cats!’
‘She’s with cats, but the Republican conference is a bunch of brats! There’s a big difference between who is being elected,’ Alexandra said as Ana quipped: ‘I was going to say they’re not cats, they’re something else but I would get canceled!’
Trying to rein in the discussion, Sara Haines announced: ‘I want to talk about your documentary.’
‘Thank you, finally! That’s what I came for!’ Alexandra said as the live studio audience erupted into laughter.
The panel were keen to hear her thoughts on why she thinks the people who feature in her documentary still have an ‘unblinded loyalty’ to former President Donald Trump.

‘Now, a lot of what they say is, “I got caught up in the heat of the moment”, that’s not an excuse… they did some really bad things, but he has the cult of personality and they have a sort of religious attachment that is still not broken.’
Referring to comments made by Republicans who argued that the people who stormed the Capitol were ‘tourists’, Alexandra continued: ‘Let’s just close with this thought: we can all agree, we need to agree to a set of facts and when the Republicans say, “oh they were all just tourists”, no, this is one of the darkest days in American democracy.
‘They weren’t tourists because I saw – one of the people in my film – people were accused of literally pooping in the United States Capitol! That actually happened. I saw it with my own two eyes!’
‘Alright, okay we have go to wrap this up,’ Joy said. ‘Great to see you, you’re so fun and interesting and say hello and send my love to your mother.’
Viewers tuning in at home were rather baffled by Alexandra’s appearance, with one asking: ‘Why is Alexandra Pelosi yelling?’ Another posted: ‘Alexandra talks kinda loud! Haha.’
A third person said she ‘seems manic,’ adding: ‘It’s too much.’ A fourth commented: ‘Alexandra – you need a little LESS energy lady! Ya kinda all over the place…. Like wassup?’
Another person claimed: ‘Something seems way OFF about Alexandra Pelosi!!! Too much caffeine. I’m holding back on what I REALLY wanna say.’
Someone else posted: ‘Alexandria Pelosi is the younger version of her mother. Literally.’
