Golden Globes 2025: Amy Adams graceful in maroon gown on red carpet after daughter approved elegant ensemble

Amy Adams looked ravishing as she walked the red carpet at The Beverly Hilton for the 82nd Annual Golden Globe Awards Sunday.

The Aviano, Italy-born actress, 50, embodied glamour at the famed venue in Beverly Hills, California in a plunging-neck off-the-shoulder maroon gown she said her daughter Aviana Olea Le Gallo, 14, approved of.

The six-time Oscar nominee said her teen daughter, her only child with husband Darren Le Gallo, 50, imbued her with confidence about her outfit for the luxe proceedings.

‘She gave me the thumbs up on the way out, so I feel good,’ Adams told Variety and Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet, according to People.

Adams on Sunday – who was nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy for Nightbitch – rounded out her stylish ensemble with dangling David Yurman diamond earrings and a necklace that matched.

Adams had been nominated in the category against eventual winner Demi Moore (The Substance); as well as Cynthia Erivo (Wicked), Karla Sofìa Gascón (Emilia Pérez), Mikey Madison (Anora) and Zendaya (Challengers).

Adams’ Golden Globe nomination Sunday was her 10th career nod at the ceremony, as she had back-to-back Best Actress victories for Big Eyes in 2015 and American Hustle in 2014.

The critical acclaim for Adams’ performance came more than four months after fans reacted en masse with skepticism to the trailer, in which the feted actress played a woman who fears she is turning into a dog – chowing down on food without utensils in one scene.

The social media site X/Twitter in early September was flooded with shocked and bemused reactions to the release of the preview for the bizarre comedy horror, in which the six-time Oscar nominee takes on canine traits.

A number of users were astounded Adams was persuaded to take the role, as one user said that ‘she needs a new agent’ echoing a previous user’s sentiments in July who said, ‘Amy girl, i’m begging you, get a better agent.’

A synopsis for the film read: ‘As she embraces the feral power deeply rooted in motherhood, she becomes increasingly aware of the bizarre and undeniable signs that she may be turning into a dog.’

One fan said the concept of the motion picture marked a new low for the American film industry: ‘Wow… just when you thought Hollywood already hit rock bottom, they walk over and say hold my beer.’

Another remarked, ‘I replied to a post a few days ago about Hollywood having no original ideas. I was wrong and I apologize. Hollywood should stop having original ideas.’

One user said they had ‘never wanted to unwatch something more in my whole life.’

Some fans applauded the unusual nature of the film, and the actress for taking a chance with the role, which is billed as ‘Mother’ on iMDb.

‘People cry and bitch about movies being repetitive and how cinema is dead but when a weird movie comes out all they do it cry and b***h more cause its not gonna be “oscar worthy,”‘ one user said. ‘WHO gives a f*** about oscars!! AMY ADAMS WE LOVE YOU NIGHT***H

Another user said: ‘I have no idea what’s going on, but Amy Adams being in it is enough for me to watch it.’

One user said the concept ‘looks like a nice idea and whatever role Amy Adams will do she’ll do it the best..’

A user said, ‘Can’t wait to see Amy Adams unleash her inner night creature! This one’s going to be a wild ride!’

Other users had unique takes based off the preview featuring the acclaimed actress.

A user said, ‘The memes that are going to come from this movie…’ while another said, ‘This looks like the best SNL skit ever.’

Another remarked, ‘Every single wholesome and normal appearing actor from the 90s and 00s will be systematically ritually
humiliated on screen, it seems.’

Multiple users said they were confident Adams would be able to make something of the unusual role.

‘I love Amy so I have to watch this despite everything telling me not to,’ one person said, while another said, ‘I can’t wait to see how Amy Adams brings this unique story to life.’

Said another user, ‘I love me some Amy Adams, this looks like it is really showcasing her acting skills!’

One user said they were ‘excited to see Amy Adams in this new role,’ adding that the movie is ‘shaping up to be a must-watch!’

A trailer for the movie showed Adams’ character Mother adjusting to life as a mom in the suburbs with her toddler son and husband (played by Scoot McNairy.)

However things take a sinister turn when her son points out ‘fur’ on her face, her eyes change and she notices she is developing pointed canines – like a dog’s.

Mother soon transforms into a wolf and joins a pack of dogs every evening – with Adams seen devouring a tray of food without cutlery, digging a hole in her garden, and eating dog food from a metal bowl alongside her son.

The increasingly feral Mother also tells a woman she could ‘crush a walnut with her vagina’ and tells her amused mom friends ‘I think I’m turning into a dog!’

In addition to Amy, Nightb***h – an adaptation of author Rachel Yoder’s 2021 novel – also stars Ella Thomas and Garrett C. Phillips.

Nightb***h – Adams’ first movie since 2022’s Disenchanted – premiered in theaters on December 6, 2024, with a Toronto Film Festival premiere on September 7, 2024.

Adams and husband Darren Le Gallo met in an acting class in 2001, and began dating a year later when they collaborated on the short film, Pennies.

The couple got engaged in 2008 and welcomed daughter Aviana two years later in 2010.

They had an extended engagement and said they were in no rush to get married, before exchanging vows in 2015 on a ranch just outside of Santa Barbara, California.

The actress told Allure in 2016 that the couple decided to finally get married because Aviana ‘wanted a family wedding’.

Adams has also previously gushed about her husband and the love he has for their daughter.

She told Marie Claire back in 2018: ‘It’s sexy to see him raising a girl and teaching her how a man should treat her in a lovely way.’

And the actress, who has six Academy Award nominations and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame under her belt, hopes to serve as a reminder to her daughter about her own potential.

‘I want [Aviana] to know that is it not just women that can soar, she can soar and she needs to find her own light. I know she is on that path,’ she told Entertainment Tonight after her Hollywood Walk Of Fame ceremony in 2017.

‘That is something that I need to remind her. No light that shines on me creates a shadow for her to stand in.’
