Vicky Pattison, 37, Questions Motherhood Amid Baby Pressure on Women’s Health Cover

Vicky Pattison has admitted that she has a ‘huge question mark over motherhood’ and that the pressure to have a baby now that she is married is ‘suffocating’.

The Strictly star, 37, tied the knot with partner Ercan Ramadan last summer but in a new interview she has opened up about their thoughts on parenthood.

Women’s Health UK she explained that she had worked so hard for so long to get where she has career wise, that taking a break ‘scares her’.

Vicky, who looked stunning in a series of images accompanying the interview, said: ‘I’m a huge advocate for egg freezing, although I’m saying that from a position of financial privilege.

‘Women shouldn’t be beholden to this invisible timeline. We’re fed this narrative that we can have it all and do whatever we want, but it’s not necessarily true. In women’s lives, there has to be a lot of compromise involved.

‘I met Ercan when I was 31 and wanted to give our relationship breathing space…It’s been the best thing I’ve ever done. I felt really suffocated, on a kind of conveyor belt, and now I feel free.’

The former Geordie Shore star also said she and Ercan are ‘singing from the same song sheet’ about wanting more time to make up their minds about parenthood.

She explained: ‘My mum told me ‘If not having children is your trajectory, that’s fine,’ which I thought was powerful.

‘I think we’re coming around to the idea as a society that a woman doesn’t have to have children to be fulfilled – and, for me, there’s still a huge question mark over motherhood.

‘I’ve worked to finally get to a place where I’m proud of who I’m becoming, and the thought of taking a break… it scares me.’

Vicky is paired with pro dancer Kai Widdrington on this year’s Strictly – with the duo going from strength to strength in the competition.

However last week Vicky revealed her husband can’t wait for her to be booted off the BBC dance show so they can resume their sex life.

The Channel 4 presenter said that her husband Ercan has been put on a sex ban because she’s too tired after rehearsals.

She told the Mail on Sunday: ‘We’ve been together for nearly ten years and we have a really healthy relationship in every aspect. But it’s just so hard.’

‘You’re so exhausted, you’re training for many hours a day. I’m still working outside of this. I’m podcasting, doing all my social bits, I have just launched a clothing collection. Things are full on.’

She went on: ‘So after a full day doing the Charleston you don’t fancy going home and doing the mattress Mambo.

‘He’s [Ercan’s] having to be a little bit patient with us at the minute. I think he’s potentially one of the only people in my inner circle, who’s hoping I’m getting booted out.’

The pair got engaged in 2022, before they got married in front of the cameras last year for a Channel 4 documentary titled My Big Fat Geordie Wedding.

Last Saturday night, she danced a lively Charleston to A Little Party Never Killed Nobody from The Great Gatsby.

But it wasn’t an easy week for the North-east native.

Her and Kai both fell ill and were forced to pull out of an appearance on Strictly spin-off It Takes Two.

The former I’m A Celeb Winner posted a snap of her recovery essentials, including lozenges, cough syrup, ginger shots, oranges and juice as she battled to shake off the bug.

When she recovered she chipped her tooth during a lift in rehearsals and her dog drew blood after playfully scratching her face.

Vicky Pattison stars on the Women’s Health cover and Just As Well podcast.
