Chloe Pink Responds to Trolls Over Wedding Photos: ‘They Can’t Stand Our Love Due to My Body Shape’

It was supposed to be the happiest day of her life – but for AFL star Toby Pink’s wife Chloe, her fairytale wedding quickly turned into a nightmare after being cruelly targeted by online trolls.

The childhood sweethearts, who grew up together in the small South Australian town of Millicent, tied the knot in March after seven years together.

But soon after sharing their wedding photos online, Chloe was bombarded with disgusting comments from strangers criticising her appearance.

‘No one can take away the day, but at the same time, we feel as though it has been overshadowed by the negative commentary around the wedding day and also the way that I look,’ she told nine.com.au.

Chloe added that when she looks at her wedding day photos, she is plagued with memories of cruel comments she saw about the images online.

Instead of basking in the usual post-wedding bliss, Chloe says the abuse tainted what should have been a joyful time.

The footy WAG copped a torrent of abuse on her wedding photos earlier in the year. The pair were married in March but delayed their honeymoon due to Toby’s AFL commitments

‘When you get married, post-wedding everyone is congratulating you, and you’re in a honeymoon love bubble.

‘Whereas ours was, “Oh my God, I’m so, so sorry,”‘ she admitted.

The North Melbourne WAG said she has been seeing a psychologist to help her deal with the trauma.

However, Chloe said she understands that the cruel comments often stem from strangers’ insecurities rather than anything to do with her.

‘They can’t stand that Toby could love me because I have a bigger body shape, they can’t grasp that, and it’s easy for them to pick me apart rather than deal with their own insecurities,’ she said.

Following her appearance on Steph Claire Smith’s KIC POD podcast, the influencer and fitness guru kindly arranged for the newlyweds to have their wedding photographs retaken – a gesture Chloe says has helped her reclaim the joy of the day.

Chloe also revealed that some footy fans have also targeted her husband, sending him messages of sympathy for being married to her.

‘He chose to love me. No one is going to want anyone speaking like that to their loved ones (like that). He doesn’t want anything to do with you speaking to his wife like that,’ she said.

Despite the ugliness, Chloe insists her bond with Toby remains as strong as ever.

The pair, who grew up together in a small country town and have been best friends since childhood, support each other through the tough times.

‘It’s very healthy, it’s mutual and very nurturing actually. We are best friends and I think that comes before anything,’ she said.

The couple enjoyed their honeymoon in the Maldives, which they had delayed due to Toby’s AFL schedule, earlier this month.

‘I was very anxious about what I wore and how I looked and finding a dress that was flattering on me,’ she told news.com.au.

‘If I had my arms or chest out, I knew the comments would be ten times worse.’

Comments were quickly deleted, but Chloe said she saw some terrible things written about her appearance, including one saying she looked like a ‘heifer brought in from a paddock’.

‘The public are so used to seeing a WAG that is a size 8 or 10,’ she said.

‘I’m a size 14 or 16, and my husband is in love with me, but I am different to the rest.’

Pink is determined not to let the body-shaming trolls get to her and says it helps that her husband is always supportive.

‘He is really positive, and when we see it, he is like, “it sucks”, but he always says you have to ignore it and know that I love you and you look good and they are nobodies,’ she said.
