The Wanter singer, 36, who has battled alcoholism previously, admitted he is ‘very lucky that this was caught when it was’ as he shared the shocking health scare.
He hasn’t disclosed what condition he is suffering with but did explained that he will be spending Christmas in hospital as he awaits a heart operation.
Max was first linked to EastEnders actress Maisie back in summer 2022 following his split from Stacey Giggs, who was previously married to former footballer Ryan.
Prior to Stacey the singer was previously engaged to fellow Mancunian Michelle Keegan and even had a brief fling with A-lister Lindsay Lohan.

Michelle Keegan (2010 – 2012)
Both hailing from Manchester Michelle Keegan and Max were together for two years, with the singer proposing to her in June 2011.
The former couple were first photographed together in December 2010, just a few weeks prior, he had told New! magazine: ‘Yes, we are seeing each other. She’s just beautiful. She’s an awesome girl.
‘She’s a funny girl – and I love her accent too… it’s early days though.’
Max later admitted that he didn’t even remember most moments of their relationship because of his ‘serious drinking problem’ which led to their split in July 2012.
The popstar said that Michelle couldn’t handle his drinking and called off their engagement three months before the news of their split went public.
Speaking to The Sun, he said: ‘I had a real problem with drinking too much and that was, without doubt, the downfall of our relationship.
‘I was drinking more to forget the fact I was with someone who wasn’t making me that happy.
‘Michelle is seen as like Britain’s Sweetheart nowadays, I understand it might have looked as if there was something to hide, [but] there was no betrayal in terms of cheating.’
At the time of their split it was widely reported that The Wanted star had cheated on Michelle after a picture was published of him kissing a blonde woman on a night out in Newcastle, but Max made it clear that they had split up two months earlier.
Michelle went on to date and later marry former TOWIE star Mark Wright, they became engaged after nine months of dating.

The actress even enjoyed a recent holiday to London, but she was spotted spending her evenings without him.
However Lindsay did fuel the fire when she posted a picture on Instagram which showed herself and Max together in what looked like a hotel room.
Max, who reportedly introduced the star to his parents, had been attempting to neutralise Lindsay’s advances and dismissed her as a ‘party’ girl to E!
He later confirmed it was just a fling, admitting they shared ‘a little snog’ at one point during a brief dalliance between the pair.
Asked by E! News while promoting The Wanted’s upcoming reality show whether he had enjoyed a ‘snog’ with the Mean Girls actress, Max said: ‘Yes, we did — a little one.
‘She’s a friend of all of ours and she is a lovely girl. We wish her all the best, wherever she is.’
Max’s revelation about his fling with Lindsay came after he quashed rumours of a romance between the pair via his Twitter page when a somewhat melodramatic The Wanted fan told him she would ‘die’ if he was dating the star.
He replied: ‘I’m not so you’re fine!’

The pair, who met when they both starred in a Buffalo fashion campaign, spilt just a few months later in February 2014 near the time that his band The Wanted also confirmed their split.
A source told The Sun On Sunday: ‘They just wanted different things out of the relationship and had grown slightly apart.’
‘It was hard for Max to dump Nina so soon after news broke that The Wanted are breaking up,’ the source added: ‘But he is being optimistic. He is looking at it all as an opportunity for a fresh start. He’s not one to get down in the dumps about things.’
Nina was later spotted leaving a club in New York with Leonardo DiCaprio a few weeks after their split.

Max began dating Stacey in 2018, but they split in July 2022 after cheating rumours with his Strictly Come Dancing co-star Maisie Smith.
They first split in March 2022 was due to Stacey becoming suspicious about her boyfriend’s close relationship with Maisie, who he had spent the previous two months with on the Strictly tour.
After a few days apart, the couple reconciled before Stacey reportedly dumped Max on July 25 after the Maisie rumours refused to die down.
She was later left furious that her former partner and the actress made their relationship public just days after they split.
Another source said the new romance will be a ‘bitter pill’ for his ex Stacey as the Strictly curse has struck her.

A source told the publication: ‘They were all over each other. This isn’t a flash in the pan. Max has told people that he is falling in love with Maisie.’
A passenger added: ‘They looked like a very loved-up couple – they were all over each other for the entire four-hour flight. Snogging and giggling like any new couple.’
The pair were said to have grown close once again on the Strictly live tour, after first starring on the show together in 2020.
Back in June 2022, the pair appeared on Loose Women together – where Max praised Maisie’s dancing skills.
They added that Max and Maisie had told pals that ‘it’s love’ and that they started dating in June, after he and Stacey split.
Maisie moved in with Max early last year and the pair have been busy refurbishing their dream home ever since.
Speaking to The Sun on Sunday, Maisie previously spoke about her excitement about living with Max and dismissed concerns over their 13-year age gap.
She said: ‘If it wasn’t that, it would be something else. People don’t understand what goes on behind closed doors in a relationship.
‘I think they also forget that I’m a consenting [then] 21-year-old woman who’s actually been working longer than Max! I don’t notice the age difference and neither do my friends or family.’
