Zoe Ball has revealed how her family suffered a Christmas disaster which resulted in her daughter Nell being rushed to A&E for an X-ray.
Speaking on her Radio 2 breakfast show on Wednesday morning, Zoe, 54, told how her daughter’s father and her Fatboy Slim ex-husband Norman Cook had accidentally dropped a Christmas tree on the teenager’s foot.
Zoe assured her listeners that her daughter was fine and the foot was only swollen not broken, but she had been forced to miss the last day of term at school.
She said on air: ‘Sending love to my Nell today. It was supposed to be her last day of school today. But sadly, her dad [Fatboy Slim] unintentionally dropped a Christmas Tree on her foot and she had to go to A&E yesterday.
‘She had an X-ray but it’s okay, it’s just swollen. She’s going to be alright, but she was supposed to go ice skating with her friends from school today but she won’t be able to get her foot in a boot. The things you don’t think are going to happen!

‘He’s obviously very apologetic, poor love. This happens doesn’t it. Bless her! What a story to tell though, so I’m sending her lots of love this morning.’
Zoe, who announced her split from Fatboy Slim in 2016 after 18 years of marriage, also shares her son Woody, 23, with the DJ.
Last month, Zoe discussed her own medical issues when she revealed she was battling a painful health condition which has left her with ‘awful’ headaches.
She announced she was quitting her breakfast show earlier this month to ‘focus on family’ as she handed over the reigns to her ‘bestie’ Scott Mills.
Days later, Zoe shared with fans her early wake-up calls have been made worse as she is in agonising pain from TMJ, which is worsened by stress.
TMJ stands for temporomandibular joint, which is the joint that connects your lower jaw to your skull in front of each ear.
TMJ disorders (TMDs) are a group of conditions that affect the TMJ and the muscles that control jaw movement.
Symptoms include jaw, neck and shoulder pain, headaches, limited jaw movement or locking, dizziness and vision problems.
Uploading a photos of herself before and after getting a lymphatic drainage massage to relax the muscles, Zoe wrote: ‘I have TMJ and wake most days with awful headaches from tension & jaw clenching.
‘So grateful to Helen @thesculptresslondon for her magic. this is my face after i’ve seen her, check out my face before – yikes – picture 2. can’t recommend her enough. she also has the greatest playlists. thank you H and to @just.__.tiff for the intro.

Zoe’s showbiz pal Julia Bradbury commented: ‘So magical to find people like this in our lives’, while Stacey Dooley typed: ‘Stunz’ (sic).
Zoe was the BBC’s highest-paid on-air female presenter in 2023/24 with a salary between £950,000 and £954,999, ranking her second on the list of top-earning talent behind Gary Lineker, according to the corporation’s annual report published in July.
The presenter had taken a mysterious six week absence hosting over the summer – with Scott stepping in as her replacement – before she returned in September.
In an official statement, she said: ‘After six incredible years on the Radio 2 Breakfast Show, it’s time for me to step away from the very early mornings and focus on family. It’s been a privilege.
‘I think the world of you listeners and I’m grateful to my bosses here for their support, especially this year.’

As one of the corporation’s top earners, Zoe is sacrificing a £950,000-a-year job by stepping down from her radio show
Zoe has two children with ex-husband Norman Cook; Woody, 23, and Nelly, 14, and said the reason behind her departure is to focus on her family

Zoe will host her last slot on December 20 before Scott Mills, who currently hosts Radio 2’s weekday afternoon programme from 2 – 4pm, begins fronting the programme from early January.
Praising her time on the airwaves, Woody shared a sweet snap alongside his sister Nelly mum and dad, and wrote: ‘Well done Mama on a fabulous stint on Radio 2!
‘Here’s to more time at home! Excuse the whole family pick can’t find enough crackers with @zoetheball. YOU ARE AMAZING. 4AM is a crazy time to get up!’
Last year she split from former construction worker Michael Reed after five-and-a-half years together.
Zoe will host her last slot on December 20 before Scott, who currently hosts Radio 2’s weekday afternoon programme from 2 – 4pm, begins fronting the programme from early January.
Announcing the news to listeners on her morning show, she said: ‘After six years of fun times alongside you all on the breakfast show, I’ve decided it’s time to step away from the early alarm call and start a new chapter.’
The veteran presenter said she was ‘thrilled’ to reveal her good friend Scott, as her replacement, telling listeners: ‘Scott and I go way back to our Radio 1 days, when he was doing early mornings before me. He’s been a close friend for years, and I’m beyond thrilled it’s him taking over the Breakfast Show.
‘Breakfast has always been his dream, and what a year he’s had – from racing around the world to his beautiful wedding to Sam. He’s not only a blooming brilliant producer but one of the best in radio. I can’t wait to tune in on the school run!’.
Scott joined his friend on her show following her announcement and said he was ‘beyond excited’ to become host.
He said: ‘Zoe and I have been such good friends now for over 25 years and have spent much of that time as part of the same radio family here at Radio 2 and also on Radio 1. She’s done an incredible job on this show over the past six years, and I am beyond excited to be handed the baton.
‘It feels ever since recording my first shows as a kid for an audience of one, my mum, all roads since have led to this amazing opportunity. It really is a lifelong dream come true to follow in the footsteps of Sir Terry, Chris and Zoe to be the new presenter of the Radio 2 Breakfast Show.’
Now, she is reportedly in discussions to join streaming giant Netflix with plans to return to her ‘TV roots’.

Praising her time on the airwaves, Woody, 23, said on Instagram: ‘Well done Mama on a fabulous stint on Radio 2!
The presenter is no stranger to TV and has previously appeared on Celebrity Gogglebox, The Masked Dancer and, in 2023, fronting talent contest Mamma Mia!.
A source told The Sun: ‘After all, she sees her contemporaries like Claudia Winkleman, Tess Daly, and Davina McCall appearing on prime-time shows.
‘It seems there’s never been a better time to be a fifty-something woman in TV presenting, and Zoe already brings with her a huge following.’
Zoe became a well known face after shooting to fame in the 1990s, presenting BBC One’s children’s show Live & Kicking as well as Top Of The Pop.
In 2019, she took over hosting the Radio 2 Breakfast Show but has now announced she wants to reduce her work commitments.
And it appears Zoe won’t have to rush into anything as it appears she will be taking on a more behind the scenes roll.
As one of the corporation’s top earners, Zoe is sacrificing a £950,000-a-year job by stepping down from her radio show.
But she isn’t stepping away from the BBC and is widely expected to remain on a hefty – albeit reduced – salary.
A source told The Daily Mail: ‘It all feels like smoke and mirrors.
‘Zoe is loved by the upper echelons and the job is demanding – five days getting up at the crack of dawn is hard.
‘But the truth is that she will be handed a plum new show for which she will be paid hundreds of thousands of pounds, despite her listening figures dropping massively.’
The huge BBC shake-up will also see top-earner Gary Lineker depart from his £1.35million-a-year role as host of Match of the Day
Meanwhile, disgraced Huw Edwards was the BBC’s highest-paid newsreader, with its accounts putting him in a pay bracket of between £475,000 and £479,999 for 2023/24
Several of BBC’s highest paid stars from 2024 have either stepped down or announced their imminent departure.
In what is a huge shake-up, top-earner Gary Lineker will step back from his £1.35million-a-year role as host of Match of the Day.
The footballer turned pundit, 63, has been the regular host of the show since 1999 but he will end his 25-year stint on the Saturday night programme at the end of this season.
According to reports, Gary was ‘open’ to staying and is even believed to have volunteered to take a £350,000-a-year pay cut from his £1.35million salary to stay as host of the flagship football show beyond next May.
But his new boss Alex Kay-Jelski, with whom he is not close, declined so he can freshen the corporation’s Saturday night football coverage while cutting the salary bill.
‘Lineker was open to staying on at Match of the Day, but the BBC did not offer him a new contract for the show’, the corporation’s culture and media editor Katie Razzall said.
While former Director General Greg Dyke believes that Lineker’s penchant for giving personal views, and the headache it has caused his bosses, will have been ‘in the mind’ of the BBC when they decided to go for a new host. ‘In the end, people watch Match Of The Day for the football’, he declared.
This morning the corporation revealed that Mr Lineker has extended his TV contract until the end of the 2026 World Cup – but is stepping down from MotD as it ‘evolves for changing viewing habits’.
Meanwhile, disgraced Huw Edwards was the BBC’s highest-paid newsreader, with its accounts putting him in a pay bracket of between £475,000 and £479,999 for 2023/24.
The corporation knew the presenter, 62, had been arrested last November but continued to pay his salary until he resigned on medical advice this April.
In August it was reported the BBC asked Huw to hand back the £200,000 salary he earned after being arrested for having indecent images of children.
