Joey Lawrence’s costar Melina Alves shared her thoughts after he went back to his wife.
Alves, 40, said that his decision to reconcile with his ex — which comes after the estranged couple went their separate ways amid affair allegations — was a ‘surprise’ to her.
The Socked In For Christmas star addressed his apparent reunion with his estranged wife, Samantha Cope, 37, in a statement shared via People.
‘While these situations are always multifaceted, I’d like to keep the details of it and my friendship with Joey private,’ she said. ‘As for Joey and Sam reuniting and reconciling, it came as a surprise to me as everyone else, and if it’s true, I wish them all the love.’
This comes nearly five months after Lawrence, 48, and Cope filed for divorce following two years of marriage.

Alves also mentioned Lawrence and Cope’s daughter, nearly two-year-old toddler Dylan.
In her statement, she also referred to Lawrence’s daughters Charleston, 18, and Liberty, 14, whom he shares with his ex-wife Chandie Yawn-Nelson.
Alves continued: ‘I wish them restoration with the relationship with his two older daughters and his wife as that relationship is ever so important.
‘And now their sweet girl, Dylan, gets to be raised in a home with both of her parents, surrounded by her sisters, her wonderful and loving grandmother Donna, and the rest of her family and that’s truly beautiful.’
Back in August, it was reported that Lawrence and Cope split after he was involved in an alleged affair with Alves while filming their movie Socked In For Christmas.
Alves has denied the rumors about an extramarital affair.
After Lawrence and Cope announced their decision to go their separate ways, Alves issued a statement to clarify her relationship with her costar.
‘First and foremost, I want to clarify that there was no sexual relationship between Joey and myself while we were on set filming Socked in for Christmas,’ she wrote.

‘Our relationship was a meaningful friendship that developed naturally due to the many similarities in our personal situations.’
Alves said they became friends and bonded over a ‘common ground in our shared experiences.
She said that was the foundation for what would become a ‘strong, supportive friendship that has been a source of strength for both of us’ amid the problems they were facing in their respective marriages.
Lawrence also addressed the allegations and spoke about how he was dealing with the fact that his then-estranged wife had filed for divorce.
On an episode of his The Brotherly Love Pod podcast, he shared: ‘This has been a multifaceted journey these four [or] five years.
‘Actually, there was a lot of pain in that journey despite public perception and what it looks like [on social media],’ he said at the time.
‘Life will move on and we will move through this,’ he continued. ‘And my children will be at the forefront.’
