Darius Rucker on Wednesday announced that he and girlfriend Emily Deahl have gotten engaged following a year of dating.
The 59-year-old musical artist took to Instagram with a shot of himself on one knee as he proposed to the 33-year-old social media influencer.
The Hootie & the Blowfish vocalist showed his gratitude toward his new fiancee for the bliss she’s brought into his world.
‘Thank you for showing me a level of happiness I have never known,’ the Charleston, South Carolina native said.
Rucker – whose hits include Hold My Hand, Only Wanna Be with You and Let Her Cry – continued, ‘The day I met you I knew I didn’t want to go another one without you. Now I don’t have to.’
Rucker, a three-time Grammy-winner, was seen in a second picture embracing Deahl as she showed off the diamond engagement ring with gold band he presented her with.

Deahl reposted the shot of the proposal to her Instagram Stories, along with a caption explaining why she took a guarded stance toward sharing details of her romance with Rucker.
‘I never intended on keeping this part of my life from you guys for so long,’ Deahl said, ‘but somewhere along the way of loving him I discovered how sacred love is to me.’
Deahl said that ‘all [she] wanted to do was protect’ the relationship, adding that she was relieved she would no longer have to photoshop him out of their pictures.
Rucker received a slew of kind words from friends and fans in the comment section – including superstar songstress Miranda Lambert, who said, ‘Congrats!’
