Laura Henshaw has revealed she will be stepping down as the CEO of health and wellness app Keep It Cleaner.
The fitness influencer made a name for herself when she launched the KIC app in 2015 alongside co-founder Steph Claire Smith.
Laura took on the role of CEO while Steph took the COO chair, launching their brand into phenomenal success over the course of 10 years.
On Thursday, Laura announced on Instagram that she is going to be stepping into a founder role and ’embarking on the next phase of her journey’.
‘Over the past five years, I’ve had the honour of being the CEO of Kic,’ she began.
‘I’ve always had a funny relationship with the title because technically I didn’t ‘earn’ it through the traditional process.

‘I only took the title on after Steph and I had spent the first five years of growing Kic title-less, and defining our roles for our team was important as we continued to grow, and I ended up with the title of CEO.’
Laura said she has learnt a ‘hell of a lot’ since the app’s launch.
‘The role forced me to grow in areas of leadership I didn’t think I ever could, I learnt to trust myself and I am so grateful for each and every lesson even the really hard ones – which after all are always the most powerful,’ she continued.
Laura added: ‘As founders, Kic truly does feel like our baby – we’ve put everything over [the] past 10 years into getting it to where it is today, alongside our incredible team without whom Kic wouldn’t exist.
‘So when Steph and I started the conversation about 18 months ago about bringing someone else into the role, we knew it would be quite a task to find the right person.
‘Someone who would continue to champion our amazing community alongside us, whose life’s work felt deeply connected with our mission as it does for Steph and me, who could not only work alongside us on the vision but expand it.’
Laura said their advisor Janey Martino would be replacing her as CEO.
On Thursday, Laura announced on Instagram that she will be stepping into a founder role and ’embarking on the next phase of her journey’
‘We have some huge plans for next year and as scary as it feels to say – the biggest plans yet for the business. Having Janey as part of the leadership team as CEO is so exciting for how much we’ll achieve together,’ she continued.
She revealed she will be stepping into a founder role and this will allow her to ‘work on some of the projects we’ve had on the sidelines for a very long time.’
‘As we embark on the next phase of the journey, I want to say the biggest thank you to Stephy for trusting me in the role and being the most incredible cheerleader.’
‘I’m excited for the next chapter – it truly feels like just the beginning,’ she ended.
