Nicole Kidman’s Ideal Matches After Keith Urban Split Revealed

Nicole Kidman’s next chapter might just be her most romantic yet.

Following her high-profile split from Keith Urban, relationship experts say the Oscar winner, 58, deserves a love story that’s calm, grounded and far away from the red carpet chaos she’s long lived in.

This week, the Daily Mail spoke exclusively with multiple leading dating and relationship experts who weighed in on what and who could make the Big Little Lies star truly happy following the end of her marriage after 19 years.

Licensed sexologist and relationship therapist, Sofie Roos says Kidman’s next partner should bring a sense of emotional steadiness.

‘Since Nicole is a person with much charisma and integrity, she needs someone who’s secure in themselves and is low-key,’ Roos explains. ‘Humor, emotional intelligence and someone that can match her intensity are also qualities she should look for to make it work out well long term.’

Roos believes Kidman will thrive with someone who respects her independence: ‘She needs someone that lets her breathe and isn’t in need of consistent attention, but who can give Nicole the freedom she also needs post-divorce.’

And while dating another Hollywood name could be tempting, Roos says Kidman should ‘look outside the industry, or at least away from the red carpet.’

‘I think she would benefit from having a relationship out from the spotlight, which would give a greater chance of building something in private and at her own pace,’ she adds. ‘Maybe someone behind the camera?’

Her only warning: steer clear of anyone ‘wanting to date her as a trophy.’

As for her dream match? Roos calls Colin Firth ‘a classy comeback,’ adding, ‘He’s low key, safe and would most likely be a stable and good man for her, especially now.’

Amber Lee, co-founder of elite matchmaking firm Select Date Society, says Kidman’s ideal partner would bring peace and laughter, not headlines.

‘Nicole Kidman needs a drama-free man who will bring her a sense of lightness,’ Lee says. ‘She has lived in the spotlight, raised children, and earned global respect, so she needs a confident man who can fit into her world.’

Lee adds that Kidman ‘deserves a partner who makes her feel safe and adored, someone with whom she can laugh easily, and someone who she respects.’

‘I’d love to see her with someone outside of Hollywood,’ Lee continues, suggesting ‘a philanthropic entrepreneur or a global thought leader with intelligence and calm confidence.’

If she were to date within the industry, however, Lee thinks The Last of Us star Pedro Pascal would be an incredible match.

‘He is charming while staying grounded. I could envision the two of them having a genuine connection,’ she says.

As she dips her toe back into the dating pool, Lee warns that ‘men will be drawn to the idea of Nicole Kidman.’

‘She needs someone who is going to fall in love with the woman, not the actress. The right man will not try to dim her light or outshine her. He will quietly protect her,’ Lee cautions.

Kimmy Seltzer, a national dating expert and confidence therapist who has shared her advice in Oprah Magazine and Cosmopolitan, agrees that Kidman’s next relationship should help her reconnect with joy.

‘After years of being the poised, elegant powerhouse, Nicole deserves a partner who helps her laugh, relax, and feel adored for her real self — not her public image,’ Seltzer says. ‘She’d thrive with someone available, grounded, and confident enough to match her strength with playfulness.’

Seltzer notes that Kidman would benefit most from a partnership built on ‘curiosity, emotional intimacy, and shared humor.’

Kimmy Seltzer, a national dating expert and confidence therapist, said she could she Kidman ‘clicking with Pedro Pascal for his warmth and humor’

‘After years in a high-profile marriage, what she needs most is connection without chaos,’ she explains. ‘Availability, communication, and shared growth are key.’

Like the others, Seltzer suggests Kidman should look beyond Hollywood for love.

‘Ideally, she should look outside the industry — perhaps toward someone more low-profile, like an architect, writer, or philanthropist. That balance could give her space to be seen beyond the red carpet and reconnect with life’s simple joys.’

Her biggest dating trap? Falling back into ‘caretaker mode.’

‘She should be mindful not to overgive or play the healer or fixer,’ Seltzer cautions. ‘She needs to learn through the dating process to express her feelings more and be more available to see who listens.’

Still, Seltzer agrees that certain famous names could spark genuine chemistry:

‘I could see her clicking with Pedro Pascal for his warmth and humor, Colin Firth for his depth and sophistication, or Chris Martin for his soulful calm.’

Whether she chooses a creative type or someone entirely outside Hollywood, experts agree that Nicole Kidman’s next great love should bring calm, curiosity, and laughter — not chaos.

As Roos puts it, ‘She needs someone who encourages her creativity, stands on their own feet, and cheers her on — without losing curiosity about her.’

Jaydi Samuels Kuba, CEO at LJMatchmaking, suggested Kidman date ‘around for a minute post divorce.’
