Taylor Swift vs. Katie Price: Common Ground in Music, Scandals, and Famous Exes

Taylor Swift and Katie Price – two stars in their own right that have never met but have a lot in common, from music to their public relationships – and both releasing new music on Friday.

After Katie’s 2017 single I Got U left her stunned when it soared to number one in the charts in August, she has revealed she’s back in the studio again.

Her intention on reviving her previously failed attempts at a music career comes as global pop sensation Taylor releases her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl.

She has competition, though, with Katie’s new single Best Of Me also available to buy and stream. 

While the odds of Katie outselling Taylor are next to none, the two women surprisingly have a lot more in common than you may think. 

While there’s a glaring age difference between both stars for a start, Katie being the older of them both at 47 and Taylor 35, they both entered the music scene in the same era; the Noughties.

After years of being a glamour model and a regular Page Three face (and body), Katie attempted to fulfil her life-long dream of becoming a popstar in 2005.

She officially threw her hat into the ring to represent the United Kingdom  with her track Not Just Anybody. However, it turned out the song contest wasn’t just for anybody and she faced public embarrassment when she failed to qualify.

It didn’t take long for Katie to dust herself off, when she released an entire album with her hitmaker ex Peter Andre the following year.

The pair, who share Junior and Princess together, sang a cover of A Whole New World and named their album the same. 

While it failed to launch the singing career at the time Katie desperately wanted, the single, along with several others, have had a resurgence in the charts in recent times.  

I Got You and Hurricane climbed back into the charts in August, with the former having a resurgence due to a viral TikTok trend seeing Katie jump to number one on the official iTunes chart.

Last month, Katie revealed she was back in the studio to record more music following the newfound popularity for her vocals.

According to Katie’s official Spotify artist page, she receives on average just over 41,000 monthly streams. 

While both stars’ music careers began in the same decade, they went in vastly different directions.

Taylor’s official Spotify artist page lists the American singer’s average monthly listens at a whopping 86.6m streams.

As of early 2025, she had amassed over 100 billion total streams. She was also the most-streamed artist of 2023, with 26.1 billion streams on the platform. 

She made her music debut in 2006 with country albums Taylor Swift and Fearless, immediately catapulting her to fame.

Fearless won the Grammy for Album of the Year in 2008.

In 2014, her 1989 album marked her full transition into the pop scene with the rest of the decade seeing the star firmly establish herself as the world’s most popular popstar.

While Katie and Taylor aren’t singing from the same hymn sheet, they both know how to put on a show and give their fans what they want and expect from them. 

Both women know their brand’s worth and, more importantly, what they’re worth to advertisers with deep pockets who seek their influence. 

With Taylor’s prominence these days, she can be more selective with the brands she works with, reserving collaborations for those that align more with her own personal brand and beliefs.

In the past, she’s signed lucrative deals with L.E.I. Jeans, CoverGirl, Elizabeth Arden (fragrances), Diet Coke, and Apple Music and the NFL.

Katie, who was the face of a now banned Diesel advert earlier this year, has also had endorsements with clothing and beauty brands like Superdrug, Studio London, Morphe, and Revolution.

It was previously revealed how she partnered with AI company OhChat to trademark her AI likeness and revive her “Jordan” alter-ego in 2025.

Perhaps where both women have the most common ground is their list of famous exes, which is longer than a red carpet.

Katie’s ex-partners include Warren Furman, Dane Bowers, Ralf Schumacher, Teddy Sheringham, Scott Sullivan, Leandro Penna, Danny Cipriani, Kris Boyson, Charles Drury and Carl Woods.

Dwight Yorke is the father of her eldest son Harvey, 23, who has Prader-Willi syndrome, is autistic, suffers from septo-optic dysplasia causing his blindness, has an underactive thyroid, and a learning disability. though they do not have a relationship.

Meanwhile, Peter Andre, who recently ignited his feud with Katie, shares Junior, 21, and Princess, 18, with the former model. Alex Reid, who she was briefly married to for just 11 months between 2010 and 2011.

Kieran Hayler, who admitted to being unfaithful to Katie, shares Jett and Bunny with his ex-wife.

Across the pond, Taylor has famous exes including Joe Jonas, John Mayer, Taylor Lautner, Jake Gyllenhaal, Conor Kennedy, Harry Styles, Calvin Harris, Tom Hiddleston, Joe Alwyn, and Matty Healy.

Her most recent publicised relationship before her current one with Travis Kelce was with The 1975’s Matty following her split from Joe Alwyn in early 2023.

Throughout their careers, Taylor and Katie have had to stand up to men as well as the pressures of the industry. 

In an interview from 2022, Katie said that men ‘are the downfall in my life’.

She explained: ‘You don’t have to be a genius to work out that men are the downfall in my life. A million per cent.

‘All my dramas, my bankruptcy – everything is men. Always men. That is it.’ 

In 2019, Taylor’s public feud with Scooter Braun began after he purchased the masters of her first six albums from her former label, Big Machine Records. 

The hitmaker had accused Braun of ‘unethical bullying’ and manipulative behavior for acquiring her work without her consent. It led to Taylor to begin re-recording the albums during the 2020s to regain ownership.

In May of this year, Taylor announced to fans she had bought back her records from Shamrock Capital for approximately $360 million.

Meanwhile, an eight-member jury sided with Taylor in her countersuit against a fired radio DJ in Denver in 2017.

She had accused former radio host David Mueller of groping her during a meet-and-greet photo session in June 2013 at the Pepsi Center. 

At the start of Taylor’s career, in 2009, Kayne West interrupted her at the MTV Video Music Awards.

The rapper infamously ran on stage at the music awards ceremony whilst Taylor – who was just 19 at the time – was accepting the award for Best Female Video for her song You Belong With Me because he believed Beyoncé deserved the trophy instead.

He said at the time: ‘Yo Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’ma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time! One of the best videos of all time!’

As controversies go, Taylor squeaky clean image remains untarnished, though for mum-of-five Katie, her battles have long been documented.  

Katie is no stranger to court, having risked jail time on multiple occasions due to various driving violations.

In 2003, Katie swerved a speeding charge after police failed to arrest her within 12 weeks of allegedly clocking 70mph in a 40mph zone in her Range Rover.

Five years later she landed three penalty points after being caught talking on her mobile phone while driving. In 2009 she failed to provide the identity of the driver after her car was allegedly caught speeding in a 30mph zone and was later handed four penalty points after being clocked at 99mph and was handed four points on her licence.

The following year she was convicted for failing to be in proper control of her horsebox after veering into another lane in February and was given three points on her licence, bringing her total to 10. 

After a quiet few years Katie landed a six-month ban in February 2018 for speeding after totting up 12 penalty points for speeding. In July, photos emerged of her driving while still banned. Then in October she was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and spent 13 hours in custody after crashing into a VW Golf and a hedge on a gated estate at 2am.

In 2019 she was given a three-month ban for driving while disqualified in January of that year and was later handed a five-year restraining order banning her from contacting Michelle Penticost either directly or indirectly after hurling abuse at her during an argument at a school playground. 

Two years later she crashed her BMW car on a country road near her West Sussex home in the early hours of the morning after drinking and taking drugs.

She pleaded guilty at Crawley Magistrates of drink driving, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance and is handed a 16-week suspended prison sentence.

Katie was declared bankrupt in 2019 with debts of £3.2m from her failed company Jordan Trading Ltd, that was set up to oversee her perfume and cosmetics line. 

Katie’s children have threatened to ‘never speak to her again’ if she took cocaine after her highly publicised battle with drugs.

Katie also visited The Priory in 2018 when she spent 28 days as an inpatient after her family urged her to seek help following wild partying antics in Mallorca.

At the time, she was confronted by her loved ones after shocking footage emerged of her rapping ‘I love coke’ during a booze-fuelled hen do.

Katie broke down after the intervention and admitted she needed help to get over her chaotic behaviour, which she blamed on her PTSD.

She previously revealed that she attempted suicide after suffering from ‘anxiety, depression and major trauma’ following her horrific 2018 carjacking.

The reality star admitted she hit rock bottom after she was raped at gunpoint during the ordeal and tried to hang herself, but after passing out she ‘saw her kids faces’ and realised she ‘never wanted it to happen again.’
