T.J. Holmes found himself in an ambulance after suffering an injury in the Chicago Marathon alongside girlfriend Amy Robach.
The 47-year-old media personality took to Instagram on Monday to post photos and video of himself in the back of an ambulance during the long-distance running event.
Another one of the snaps saw legs and feet while he was strapped to the gurney.
There was also a video which seemed to be taken by Amy showing off his leg and panning to T.J. looking rather worried.
He captioned the small gallery: ‘So, this happened. Full story to come …. [tearing up emoji] #DNF #chicagomarathon.’

Amy shared a selfie of them during the race prior to the injury
His 51-year-old partner later took to her Instagram Story to reveal what the injury was as she wrote: ‘Mile 21 and the Achilles gave out.’
T.J. had also posted a selfie of himself during the race alongside one of him in the ambulance with the caption: ‘How I went from this … . to this.’
He has been open about his health struggles while training for the marathon as he said on the September 30 episode of their podcast Amy & T.J.: ‘One of the two of us might not be running it.
‘And that one was almost in tears this morning after going on what was supposed to be an eight-mile run and I only made it 1.6 miles.’
Amy revealed at the time that her partner had been struggling with his Achilles tendon as she said: ‘I have to say, you have been so on top of it.
‘Every day you’re icing, you’re heating. You’ve gone to a foot specialist who’s done some laser heat therapy. You’ve done everything you can. You’re on a steady dose of Aleve and Advil and it hasn’t gotten better.’
Last month he revealed that he had been suffering from the pain for two months as he described it at the time as ‘inflammation on the back of my heel.’
Amy added that T.J. had been contemplating whether or not to run the race out of fear of a severe injury.

She said: ‘You don’t want to rupture your Achilles, obviously, and that’s the fear.’
Meanwhile, also last month Amy revealed that she and T.J. will not be getting married anytime soon.
The television reporter, who previously worked for ABC News, said there is ‘no urgency’ to walk down the aisle even though both she and Holmes, 47, want to get married again.
This comes two years after DailyMail.com exposed that the former Good Morning America co-hosts were having a workplace affair, and they separated from their respective partners.
Following the scandal, Robach said on Thursday’s episode of I Do, Part 2, her new podcast about ‘love, resilience and second chances’ with Holmes, Jennie Garth and Jana Kramer, that they are in no rush to tie the knot.
‘There is no urgency in the sense that I’m 51 years old,’ she explained. ‘I don’t need to rush into anything.’
The journalist emphasized that they intend to get married but don’t have a timeline or plan in place.
‘I think I have rushed into everything in my life up until now,’ she continued. ‘But he knows I wanna get married, and I know he wants to get married.’

Robach added that they have both ‘said to each other and publicly’ that they want to spend the rest of their lives together.
‘We haven’t put a timeline together, and we talk about it all the time,’ she explained. ‘I don’t think a week goes by where we don’t discuss like, “Should we? Should we?”‘
Holmes also chimed in on their romance and said that their love feels ‘different.’
‘I am such a fan of love,’ he said.
‘There is nothing I love more than a wedding and just the idea of somebody making that commitment and a new beginning and building something together,’ he gushed.
‘It’s different for me this time around, where it doesn’t feel like the next step,’ he continued. ‘[It’s not like], “What needs to be done? It’s been so long.” No, I just want to marry her.’
Robach agreed with him, adding that she feels ‘a safety’ and ‘comfort’ when she’s with Holmes.
About marriage, she said: ‘There is an ease in knowing that person has publicly and legally committed to working it out with you.

‘I do want to be married, and I do love the idea of having a partner and sticking with each other through the good days and the bad,’ she added.
During the same podcast episode, Holmes said that he and Robach are interested in attending couples therapy.
‘I never knew people went to therapy until maybe I was in my late 30s. I’m a Black man in the south. There’s no talk about [that]. There’s just some things that did not get discussed and never heard about. It wasn’t until recently where I was the height of my professional success — but it was the lowest I’d ever been in my personal life.’
Holmes said he ‘finally just hit a wall’ and he was urged by someone to seek a therapist.
‘Somebody who wasn’t even that close to me recognized and identified it. They immediately got me into therapy,’ he said.
‘And it’s true that they say it’s like dating. You have to go around from therapist to therapist and find one that works for you,’ he said.

He noted that once he found the therapist for him, it was ‘helpful.’
‘It’s not something I keep up, but it was helpful for some of the darkest periods of my life.’
Because of that experience, he said he is considering couples therapy with Robach.
‘I haven’t done couples therapy with Amy yet,’ he admitted. ‘We’ve talked about doing so. We don’t know why. We just want to go and see what happens.’
Previously, the couple revealed that marriage was ‘on the table’ during an episode of their Amy and T.J. podcast in December 2023.
Several months later in April, they admitted that they were debating if they should get married or remain life partners without the official label.
‘We’re still deciding about what that level of commitment is, whether it’s legal or not,’ Robach said. ‘But mentally, emotionally, we’ve absolutely agreed to commit to one another. We haven’t figured the marriage thing out yet.’
However, Holmes admitted that he wanted to get married to make their relationship feel ‘more official’ and ‘more real.’

Robach was married to Andrew Shue for 12 years
Previously, Holmes was married to Marilee Fiebig. Robach was married to Andrew Shue for 12 years.
Both of those marriages, respectively, were their second. Holmes and Robach have children from their former relationships.
While co-hosting GMA3 in 2022, the pair started a workplace affair despite still being married to their respective partners.
The pair vehemently denied cheating allegations and insisted that they were already separated from their partners before they started dating.
Over a year later, their respective partners Shue and Fiebig were revealed to be dating in the aftermath of the scandal after having bonded over the shared traumatic experience.
