Christine McGuinness has revealed she suffered a terrifying cancer scare after finding a lump.
The TV personality, 35, was later tested for the BRCA gene after her mum Joanne was diagnosed with breast cancer as well as her three aunts.
Christine, who is an ambassador for The Pink Ribbon Foundation, recalled the moment while speaking to Daily Star at the charity’s gala.
She explained: ‘Before I had children, I found a lump one day.
‘Women in my family have had breast cancer. Because of that history, I got seen quite quickly. I had a full check-up and I had scans.’

Christine continued: ‘If you see any changes or you are unsure, you’ve got to go and get it checked out.’
In 2021, Christine confirmed that her mum was in remission and that she herself received a negative test for the BRCA gene.
She discussed her brave decision to find out whether she has faulty genes after her mother Joanne – who is now in remission – was diagnosed with cancer.
‘I’m just really relieved,’ said an elated Christine, adding: ‘Thank God it came back negative.’
Speaking to OK!, the mother-of-three shared: ‘It doesn’t mean I can’t get cancer, but it means my chances are the same as anybody else’s.’
Christine admitted she was initially hesitant to use testing company Myogenes as she feared the process would be invasive, but told the outlet it was straightforward and simple.
‘It’s sent in the post – it’s just a saliva test and really quick,’ she said, adding that results are sent directly to your GP.
Christine also revealed to the publication that if she had tested positive for the gene she would have considered ‘a full mastectomy and breast reconstruction to make sure she’s around for as long as possible for the children’.

She added that upon hearing the news of her negative test, ex husband Paddy gave her ‘a huge hug’ and said he was ‘really, really pleased’.
Of her mother’s battle with the disease, Christine explained that she ‘found a lump during lockdown’ and was then diagnosed with HER2-positive aggressive breast cancer.
However the fact that pandemic restrictions meant Christine was not able to be there in person for her mum during treatment left her ‘heartbroken’.
